Favorite Indiana Jones games
I was playing temple of doom the other day and it got me thinking there are so many great Indiana Jones games out there, on so many systems that are almost underated. What are some of your favs?
Mine:
Top games
Indiana jones and the fate of the atlantis dos - graphic style and gameplay make it nearly the best point and click game of its era, in my opinion.
Last crusade : genesis then amiga then the nes 91 version - Same movie but each game still stands up and offers something unique
Greatest adventures snes - great level design and variety from all three movies and probably the most fun indy game i've played.
Never really gave raiders on the atari 2600 chance, plan to do that. I'm finding temple on the nes to be a pretty nice game, don't know why it gets so much hate.

Temple on NES is okay.
Taito Crusade is better than Ubisoft Crusade, but that's not saying much. Ubisoft Crusade is really bad, though.
Actually, the best pre-SNES Indy console game is probably Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
My favorites are as follows:
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (NES)
Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures (SNES)
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (DOS, Mac)
Indy's Desktop Adventures (PC, Mac)
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine (PC, N64)
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb (PC, Xbox)
Or just, you know, put one controller down and grab the other when you need to select an inventory item. How hard is it to do that?
Because I'm lazy.
the adventure games of Fate of Atlantis and Last Crusade are both pretty good too.
The 2600 Raiders of the Lost Ark is a bit too cryptic, but its kinda fun to play through with a solution sheet.
Greatest Adventures - Snes
The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles - Nes
EDIT: It was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
Emperor's Tomb is definitely the tops in my book. From the first stage it is just plain great gameplay fun.
Agreed.
Emperor's Tomb played in a way where you felt like you were Indiana Jones in a script that was just never made into a movie.
It was like an Indiana Jones version of 007 Nightfire in that way.
However I never played the famous 2600 one.
I'm really hoping to hear more about the 3D 'Tomb Raider-style' games especially in this thread, since I've never played any of them, but they've always been a curiosity to me.
I haven't liked any of the 2D Indiana Jones games I've played, tbh. Not even Trilogy on the SNES (Great graphics? Sure, but they made it Way Too Hard).

That's a solid way to describe Emperor's Tomb.
Well worth playing. Great variety of levels and locations, and really encompasses what is important to "Indiana Jones" as a concept (i.e. a great combination of Tomb Raider type exploration and trap avoidance, and separate sequences of brawling or fighting to escape the Nazis)
Few things in any video game are as satisfying as carrying around a "Panzer Faust" and blowing the shit out of a Nazi gun emplacement, or swinging around deep-jungle ruins with a whip... or brawling with the whip as an integral part of your arsenal...

That sounds awesome! I'll give it a try, thanks
I actually haven't gotten to try many LEGO games. They look fun, if a bit simplistic.
Otherwise, Greatest Adventures is the best of the 2D games, Emperor's Tomb is the best post-SNES game, and I really wish that E3 demonstration from like 2006 would have come to fruition, but here we are.
I recommend Staff of Kings for Wii. It's mediocre, but it comes with Fate of Atlantis, so if you wanted a console version....
If I'm not limited by the NES, then I'd say SNES Greatest Adventures - Come to think of it, that made me wanna play GA and Young Indy
