I always liked Luigi better. It probably began because I liked the color green more than red when I first played SMB when I was a kid. Luigi has always been my dude for Mario Kart as well.

But seriously, probably Luigi in SMB2 and Mario in everything else unless it was a Luigi themed game (Luigi's Mansion, etc.). Also, the Mario + Luigi games from GBA, DS, and 3DS are fairly under rated IMO. I had a blast playing M&L Dream Team on 3DS a few months ago.
Growing up, my brother and I often played "Super Mario Bros. Make-Believe" in the backyard. I was always (and happily so) relegated to the role of Mario since, you know...I was the older, shorter, fatter brother. That's okay. I was the one who always got top-billing, anyway.

John Leguizamo ...I mean Luigi, is the underdog. He's the guy never picked first for the team. You gotta to root for him. And he is a better pick in SMB2.
