Okay, who in here has sticker sealed Black Boxes???

Okay guys, this one is a tough call. I'm not sure that I'm going to receive much info through this forum, but it could at least make a good starting point.

I would like to know if any big collectors around have sealed copies of the original 18 launch titles with the black nintendo sticker at top. We're talking about U.S releases only here, so no need to verify canadian versions. I don't want to purchase them, just want to gather some information about them.

Also, it happens that the said copies I'm interested in could have both plastic seal and round sticker on them, so please let me know if it's the case. I don't think that any game excepted Stack-Up could be sealed this way, but we never know.

To Braveheart the supreme CIB archivist : As a special request, I'd like to know which Black Boxes can be confirmed to have a sticker sealed version. probably all 18 launch titles, but I just want to make sure which ones you have at the moment.

From the top of my head, I can think of these sealed copies, please correct me if I'm wrong :

- A long time member here (identity anonymous for the moment) has a brand new Deluxe Set with both Duck Hunt and Gyromite that are sticker sealed. They're not shrinkwrapped

- Another member (can't remember who) has purchased a Sticker Sealed Duck Hunt a few months ago. If I remember correctly, it has a hole somewhere on front of the box. This one has no shrinkwrap as well.

- Blarky has a Sticker Sealed Duck Hunt that has no shrinkwrap.

- Bronty has a Gyromite and a Pinball that are both Sticker Sealed. Once again, no shrinkwrap on these.

- I do have a Sticker Sealed Ice Climber which is currently up on eBay for 25K. If anyone's interested please shoot me a PM image. (Oh! I forgot, no shrinkwrap.)

- Seth has a Stack-Up with both shrinkwrap and Nintendo sticker on it. In fact, there's a fairly good amount of these in existence. Just don't know how many or who own them.

- That's all for the moment!

As you can see, this list is way too short. If anyone has something to add to this list, that would be greatly appreciated. As a reference, here's a list of 18 launch titles I'm talking about :

10-Yard Fight
Baseball
Clu Clu Land
Donkey Kong Jr. Math
Duck Hunt
Excitebike
Golf
Gyromite
Hogan's Alley
Ice Climber
Kung Fu
Mach Rider
Pinball
Stack-Up
Super Mario Bros.
Tennis
Wild Gunman
Wrecking Crew

Thanks to everyone involved in this. I really hope this thread won't die in a day or two....

  • FFF AW! I'm sure I could find a pic if you really want.
  • Yes, good call Nutter. I knew this was going to be discussed.

This game actually came sticker sealed with the FFF Pad. It is probably the only exception in the U.S library. Everything else apart from the 18 launch titles can't be found Sticker Sealed.

EDIT : Okay I knew I was wrong at some point. Braveheart has just confirmed some later releases with a sticker sealed version.
  • FYI my understanding is that dk jr math isn't a launch title - its a 1986. That list is in error; its an old error from a nintendo power article. As for stack up there are a good number of dual(wrap and sticker) sealed copies out there
  • Really? Mmmmmm this is very good information... So there's not 18 but 17 launch titles?

And yeah, I knew that there's several of these dual sealed Stack-Ups. Just don't know who has them.
  • I have all of these sticker sealed:

    10-Yard Fight
    Balloon Fight
    Baseball
    Clu Clu Land
    Donkey Kong
    Donkey Kong 3
Donkey Kong Jr (2 different) one with "NES-GP" on back bottom and one without
    Donkey Kong Jr Math
    Duck Hunt
    Excitebike
    Golf
    Gumshoe
    Gyromite
    Hogan's Alley
    Ice Climber
    Kung Fu
    Mach Rider
    Mario Bros
    Pinball
    Popeye
    Soccer
    Stack-Up
    Super Mario Bros
    Tennis
    Urban Champion
    Wild Gunman
    Wrecking Crew

The only 3 I don't have with sticker seals are:
    Pro Wrestling
    Slalom
    Volleyball

I can't find any evidence SO FAR of a hang tab box without a back code on the top left corner.  No sticker sealed boxes have the code.  I'd be a definite buyer if anyone has one of those 3.

I have 5 different CIB's for Pro Wrestling none with sticker seal.
I have 5 different CIB's for Slalom none with sticker seal.
I have 3 different CIB's for VOlleyball none with sticker seal.

  • Are you saying you've never seen a hangtab no-code box in general or just those three? Just those three right? As I'm sure my clu clu and a couple others are hangtab no-code.
  • Wow Braveheart, thanks a bunch for the update. Some great info in there, I knew I was wrong by saying that only launch titles had Sticker Sealed version. Things are getting more interesting now, especially with your DK Jr. which has a NES-GP mention on it.
  • HUH... that's not what I meant at all Bronty, lol. What I was saying that in order for the box to even have the POSIBILITY of having a sticker seal it CAN NOT have a back code. I have all of them but those 3 with hang tab and no back code.
  • Here are some pictures of some sticker sealed games I just found.

  • Duck Hunt and Gyromite came with the deluxe set with black sticker seals, and were never sealed in plastic. 100% confirmed
  • As posted in the other thread, and as G mentions I have a sticker sealed DH, hangtab, non-revA, circular seal (first print):

And I sold a shrinkwrapped Duck Hunt a couple months ago, non-hangtab, revA, circular seal (second printing, or thereabouts). It didn't have a sticker seal. Maybe if it were a hangtab version, there's a chance it would have had one?

Thanks a bunch for the useful info Blarky.

It looks like your shrinkwrapped Duck Hunt comes from the first Non-Hangtab generation, which is fourth generation if I'm not mistaken. And yes, it seems that only Hangtab versions might have a Nintendo sticker at top. We're progressing slowly...

I'd be temped in saying that only first party games printed somewhere between 1985-1986 have chances to be sticker sealed.
  • wow, so I had a dream about this thread. I was supposed to come into here and say that Happy Camper was sticker sealed image. Okay, I must need to get off the computer for a while.
