I had to finally know what the hell sleeve goes with this.  I've had at least 5 people ask me this over the last few months as well and I had to finally know.  I hope this isn't on the list already.  Impossible Mission II (the SEI EPYX version).  The one I opened was the Color Label Cart version.  No way to tell from the outside of the box.

Anyways to my disbelief the answer is......... NONE... there is no sleeve with this game.  Here is a pic of the contents.

Hey Braveheart,  I just got one in the mail today.  It's got a PAL sticker (french) on the outside, so I'll open it to see which type it is.

Great.  Mine is apparently HES. Note the little sticker in the bottom left.

    Edit.

Impossible Mission II  (french sticker on box)
    -----------------------------
Cart - HES version of Impossible Mission 2
Manual - HES manual (black and white)
Box - (SEI / EPYX box) with sticker in the bottom left in french.
Styrofoam block (located at the top when I opened it.
    No inserts, sleeve, or baggie

Crystal Caves (french sticker on box)
    ------------------------
Cart - No code. Blue (rear label is also blue. Rear engraving indicates: "Color Dreams Inc. Pat. Pend. Made in Taiwan)
    Manual - no code.
Box - No code. French sticker on bottom left.
    Styrofoam block
    Baggie
Blue sleeve (with bats and warrior on it)
Paper with instructions in French (double sided)
Poster with title "Arcade Quality Video Games For Play on Sega Genesis"  (Poster also shows insides of a Hellraiser cart which I thought was cool).

    Edited to correct my mistakes.

Hey Al, that's not the Micro Genius sticker on that Crystal Mines game, hence why the cart is blue.  The Micro Genius sticker is wider, so it's likely the French sticker on there (or German or Italian, but there's been a lot of French sealed copies around so that's the most likely).  That poster looks interesting though, I don't think I've seen one of those before...is there any NES stuff on it?

  • Yeah its a french sticker. I have the same one on Galactic Crusader and Pradikus.

I'll scan the poster and post it here.

    Al
  • thats def not a microgenius sticker on there. definitely a euro sticker. that's interesting with that euro impossible mission 2... i have one of those sealed too, and i always thought it was ntsc, so now i have to open it and check!
  • Here's the link to pics of the poster. One side is NES, the other is Sega.

Manual and insert are outside the bag.

Special Note: There was NO MAP !!!!

    Al

Al, can you double check that? I thought those sleeves were only used on the late-release ones. Could you possibly take a pic of the sleeve? Again, the sleeve variant would be textured...you'd be able to feel the leathery look. Sorry for the hassle Al.

EDIT: Also, the lack of a Nintendo Power card is a bit suspect as well...I believe by the time non-hangtab boxes came out, Nintendo Power was being fully pushed in licenced games.  Can anyone confirm this for me?

A year late in my response, but yes, the sleeve is not the shiny type, its the very common type that almost all ym other sleeves are. and there is no NP card either.

You don't have to bother opening it, it's going to be HES cart + manual in there. image  All French and German versions are like this.  I've asked some Australians a long time ago to check whether this HES one is different (a variant) in any way, but there hasn't been a final verdict.  The manual in the French & German IM2s is trilingual, and the cartridge has an upside down front label and is missing the rear label.  It would be nice if anyone with a HES IM2 from Australia could check theirs and see if it's also like this or not.

    you are correct sir.
  • I opened Narc, American Gladiators, Guerrilla War, and WCW Wrestling last night...Do you need any of those?
  • just post the contents anyways; its always good to get confirmation and/or different version contents image
  • Is there a list of games that have been opened that aren't needed for this thread? I think that it's great that the community is helping to obtain this data. I've scanned through this thread a few times, but didn't take the time to read every post or write down all the games that have been opened.
  • ^ There's a list up on gamefaqs that is pretty outdated and a more up-to-date one in the works, but seriously, it's a good idea to post the contents of the game(s) you open no matter what title it is, because many games had different print runs with different inserts and whatnot... better to have too much info than not enough image
