What NES peripherals do you still use?

Thought it would be a fun poll to see which of the major peripherals we still use, aside from controllers. I would lump the Power Glove and stuff like it in with controllers.

  • I last used the zapper in December or something.

ROB a few months ago to see how these replacement claws I got would perform and to dance to Xmas 14.

Just bought a power pad, but will first use it once Mega Mario Man's Tailgate Party is released.

Will probably never try a power glove cause I'm guessing the majority of the insides smell like 30 year old sweat.
  • Why is my poll not showing up?
  • Just the zappers. I have a Power Pad, but it never gets any action.
  • I last used the Zapper in March when I beat Operation Wolf.

I bought a ROB this year and tried out a few levels of Gyromite.

I also bought the Miracle Piano set and I think that counts!

I really need to get around to testing out my Power Pad that I picked up a couple of years ago. It's in really nice shape so I'm sure it works!
  • Got it! Vote now!
  • Would the Advantage stick count? I use that from time to time. Maybe add that to the poll?
  • Advantage is a controller, I think. I'm thinking of the big three peripherals and in what combinations.

I'll toss Miracle Piano into the poll, since it does a specific function with its game.

But this is if you use them! Sitting on a shelf in its box because you got a great deal on it five years ago is not using it.
  • I used my power pad semi frequently. I like playing World Class Track meet and Short Order
  • My youngest loves playing with the Zapper. Needs to work on her aim, a bit.
  • Does 4-score/Satellite count?   I mostly use mine as an extension cord for official controllers and never actually used it as a multitap. I do have an idea for an awesome homebrew game that uses it but I have a lot to learn first and dont know any coders to help.
  • Pretty much all of them. Why isn't the power glove here? I've beaten a number of games with it along with the roll'n'rocker. I always look for games to beat with them. Recently got a U-force and new glove and I plan on beating punch out with all three peripherals.
  • Power Glove, et al, are basically controllers. I'm thinking of the peripherals that do unique things and have games that use them exclusively or near exclusively.

Cool, I want to check Mega Mario Man's Tailgate Party. You should give the power glove another chance, it can be really fun once you figure out how to use it properly.
  • Four Score is life.
  • Just a controller.

I sold off my peripherals to make room awhile ago.
  • My son and I played Duck Hunt a few weeks ago and he laughed and had a great time playing it. Other than the zapper only the advantage for shooters that do not have rapid fire.
  • I bust out a zapper game every once in a while. Chiller is one of my faves (partly for the wrong reasons)

    Also, CRT masterrace

The Power Pad is more of a controller than the Power Glove. Sure, most games only saw it as a controller, but it was capable of more (see Super Glove Ball). Power Glove definitely belongs.

  • Gyromite is way more fun with a second player trying to "help" you!

That said, I do still need a ROB for the collection shelf.
  • I'm boring. Controller only. Although I do let loose on the weekends sometimes and use a dog bone controller.

Same here. Though when I'm feeling crazy I pop in Arkanoid and break out the Vaus.

Break out. Get it? Cause Arkanoid is a breakout clone ... I'll shut up now.

No! That was a good joke, be proud of it!

image just get one of these bad boys
  • Ha. Nah, that's what I have fellow cast members for!
  • I don't use ROB, mostly because the games aren't fun. I don't use the power pad, because I keep my gaming and running separate. I do still use the Zapper sometimes, but only the original gray model. I like to think of myself as edgy, not using the safety orange model
  • If Im going to use a peripherals its gotta be the DOMINATOR.
  • NES Advantage.
  • Other than just for fun, I have recently used RacerMate and Advantage. Kids have done Power Pad. ROB was a few months ago but I can't remember why....
  • I only use a controller, but that's because I don't have the space for a CRT. I have a zapper, but it doesn't work on my tv
