Thoughts on today's Nintendo Direct?

Tons of new games for the 3DS including Pikmin (sidescroll) and Mario Maker. More Color Splash gameplay and an announcement about the new Selects. I just want to see the NX in action or some kind of reveal. As I said in the Wii U discussion thread, it looks like the Wii U is pretty much done. Color Splash and a split release of Zelda will likely be it in my opinion.



There is also some new Zelda amiibos coming out. Pretty cool, but damn do I a lot of these things.

    Man, actually pretty stoked for all the new 3DS games. Don't really care much about anything new for Wii U, I think we're all kind of over that awkward hump and are ready for the NX announcement.

    I'm stoked about Mario Maker on the 3DS.



    I was so happy when the Pikmin segment started for 3DS and slightly disappointed that it's a platformer instead of a true Pikmin game. I'm still semi-excited for it because I think it has potential to be a good, unique platforming experience.



    Bummed DQ8 isn't coming to 3DS until 2017 but at least it's coming!



    That Oasis game looks like it will be good...I'm cautiously optimistic.



    Everything else was meh.

    New Pikmin!? Heck yeah sign me up. Platformer doesn't bother me at all, it's just a 2D version of the 3D game.



    Don't care about Mario Maker though, bought it once on Wii U and that was enough for me. Great game and great concept, just don't need it twice.

    Very excited for Pikmin 3DS! Excited just to hear about new 3DS games to be honest! Sorta felt they had totally shifted gears to NX and weren't going to show 3DS any more love. Mario Maker should be fun on 3DS as well! I had wondered since the first came out if they were going to bring it to 3DS cuz it seems perfect for the system!  And hell yes, Yoshi's Wooly World!!

    Pretty good direct and poor Wii U they are burying that system quick. One thing I have been wondering is wouldn't it be awesome if the NX was BC with 3DS games.



    I am really looking forward to Dragon Quest VII in 2 weeks.

    Boring/disappointing for the most part. Downports of Yoshi's Wooly World and Mario Maker aren't doing much for me since I already have the Wii U versions.



    Pikmin could be cool, so I'm interested to hear more about that. I'm also a huge Zelda fan so I'm looking forward to the amiibo.

    Honestly the down ports of WiiU games to the 3DS is a great move. There are tons of people out there who own a 3DS, but not a WiiU. And many are like me in that I have no intention of ever buying a WiiU. It makes perfect sense, then, to port popular games to the much more popular system. (I was hoping for them to do this sooner, though)

    I was a bit dissapointed the 3DS of Mario Maker won't support the download of levels through IDs.

    I want to get home to watch the direct to see the rest, specially the Pikmin game.

    I thought the Direct was pretty good actually! I was definitely surprised by ports of Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World, as well as the new Pikmin game! I really wasn't expecting anything to get excited over so I was pleasantly surprised!



    That being said it is getting pretty ridiculous that we are inching closer and closer to the NX release and we know almost nothing about the system. We seriously need an NX reveal. I mean come on now.

    Nintendos future does not look good. The only thing Im looking forward to is the new Zelda.

    Forgive my ignorance, but is there an official release date set?



    Edit: Nvm. Just read that they're "targeting" March of 2017. Being that vitually no details have been released, I'm betting that they're behind schedule.

    Its got breakdancing pigs!   havnt figured out if thats a good thing or not yet but its got em! Im right there with ya tho.

    can't watch the video right now, at work. That could be a good thing though, who doesn't like break dancing pigs  from what I've read, I am still interested, I just don't want another sticker star. Maybe I should try paper jam, might be closer to what I'm after

    Mario Maker 3DS doesn't support online though, so what's the point. I would guess it's a compilation of popular levels from the WiiU version.

    I do find it funny that the Wii U was basically a failed console version of the 3DS at this point. There are so many ports and a lot of them are very similar to the actual Wii U version, like Wooly World.



    I agree with Ted the pimp on this one, Zelda is really the only thing I'm personally looking forward to at this point. Boo and a potential Bayonetta amiibo are cool, but obviously very minor items. I'm am curious about the NX more than anything. Trying not to get high expectations.

    Mario sports actually looks like a lot of fun, maybe would be more fun on wii-u or NX for multiplayer on a big screen? It just makes sense to put all those games in one game though.



    I am interested in Yoshi because I didn't get to play it on wii-u



    BUT HOLY FREAKING CRAP PIKMIN LOOKS AMAZING!!!! maybe it looks a bit simple but I was dreaming of a 2d sort of demake like this for a long time. I really only play handhelds at this point so It will be amazing for me to be able to actually get into this one when it comes out. I will probably buy a new 3dsxl just to play it! I would love if there were faceplates though a pikmin generally doesn't get much merch. Would love if there were more amiibos for it...

    New pikmin? Interested but cautiously reserved. I might have to pick up a 3ds again for that.



    Fwh on the rest, where is the NX news?!?! My hope is they are delaying to launch with the x2 (x1 on development versions would make sense and work just fine, just means the first run if titles would not even remotely tax the x2 launch systems).



    Seriously worried that Nintendo is going to screw the NX up and end up with the handheld market and just be a massive third party powerhouse.

    Pikmin looka great in 2d! Looking forward to the sports since there is nobody online to play ultra smash with anymore



    Other than that it was useless . Good move by them porting good games to a more widespread system but i have no onterest in non hd mario maker with no online uploads a d waterd down yoshi

    It was pretty good. I will get the ports since I prefer handhelds to consoles nowadays. Pikmin and Mario Sports were my favorites.

    so when are cloud and bayonetta amiibo for the smash set coming out? Id like to finish them so I dont have to worry about that set anymore. Those are the last two I think?

    I'm still stoked on finally getting a 2DS, so I'm more interested in the 3DS stuff right now.



    The new NX console is cool but I'm not sold on it just yet. Home consoles do it less and less for me with each passing generation. Anyone else feel similarly?

    I might end up picking up Mario Maker 3DS, mostly due to the fact the Wii U is in my daughters room. Other than that I will be picking up the new Zelda amiibos.

    Haven't been officially announced yet, but there are apparently place holders for Dec 2016 from certain online sites. EB Games Austrailia apparently has place holders for Jan. 2017... so I'm guessing sometime late this year or early next year. Not sure what's taking them so long as the characters have been released for some time on Smash. I'm with you, just want to get it over with. Actually feels good not to buy any of the new Kriby, Splatoon, or Animal Crossing ones. I may still pick up some of the new SMB ones and definitely the Zelda ones (although, there will be a lot of those too between BoTW and the new ones they revealed at the direct).
