Well, let's start with some of the most common games, as well as the rarest of games, get those in the database. Then we can discuss the middle areas.
There is however, a potentially serious complication with the Wii, considering the suspicion that GameStop had reprinted some of the games.
Gamecube games were reprinted by GameQuestDirect too. Cubivore is one that was reprinted, which is part of the reason it's price continues to amaze me. Not even as rare as it could have been.
From what I've been hearing lately, it seems Lost Kingdoms II is quite a bit harder to find than most people think.
Maybe it's a region thing, since we come across it every now and then at our store. I wouldn't say it's rare, but it's really not very common either. Kinda a middle or uncommon game for me.
I know a single person can't determine rarity, but I've seen Cubivore at least 4 or 5 times in the last few years at random stores. Is it really that rare? Also, no way Metal Gear is rare.

It's not on the level of rare titles from the N64 (and definitely not NES/SNES), that's for sure. It is still semi early and before a lot of the GC titles end up out of circulation and in serious collectors hands. Still though it wouldn't compare to even the N64 rares, IMO.
Edit: I'd also add there are actually numerous Wii games I've seen less than Cubivore (examplr: American Mensa Academy, Aqua Panic, Crash Crash Racer, etc...e
I've constructed a quicklist of the rarity level of games based on sales data from vgchartz. This hopefully should be a good starting point to determining rarity of certain games.
Someone will have to iron out certain games that are irrelevant, specific to a certain region (such as Japan-only games) as well as games that could be electronically downloaded, or unpublished/unlicensed games.
Anyone who is interested in the list, send me a message and I'll e-mail you what I have.

Vgchartz is not reliable whenever you get to the really uncommon stuff. If it shows 0.0 then that means it sold less than 10,000 units (I believe). Top angler was sold in the United states.

0.00 also means sales data was not collected, or not accurately reported. Remember, this is a starting point. Now we'll be able to go piece by piece to separate common ga,es from rare ones.

My understanding from people that have access to NPD numbers is that VGChartz isn't always accurate in general. That said, I'm sure it can be used as a piece of the puzzle.
In looking at the list I notice there are 7's and 8's. In my opinion the GC shouldn't have /8's on the rarity list. If you compare them to the NES/SNES 7/8's I don't think we can justify any 7/8's and this is coming from someone that owns a few of the 7's and 8's on the GC list.
NOTE: I'm mainly focusing on GC as I think it's a bit early for Wii ratings. I don't think most of us would be surprised if Gamestop reprinted more titles on the Wii and thus I think it's best to wait a bit before rating the Wii. I do think the GC and GBA should be worked on though.
For the GameCube if you count the metroid/windwaker double pack as its own game, then that's the rarest. If not, then I'd say pokemon box is. Gotcha force is rarer than cubivore, but cubivore is rare too.
For the wii, I'd say opoona and ivy the kiwi are up there for some of the rarest games.

Three GC games that I think are rare (or "uncommon" for the people who reserve the word rare for super rare stuff) that don't get talked about much:
Go Go Hypergrind
Disney Sports Basketball
Goblin Commander
I'm sure there are many more, but those are 3 that I know of.
Gotcha Force is also an amazing game which contributes to the price as well. Cubivore is very good too.

I've been surprised by how cheap Go Go Hypergrind is. I've only ever seen one copy of it, and it was disc-only.

I do have an extra case to one somewhere.

I don't know if this has been discussed lately. Let's try to measure how rare certain Gamecube & Nintendo Wii titles are.
Does this include Kiosk games?? Because I know of 2 that I have that are disc only Kiosk demos...they must be rare.
