What system has withstood the test of time appearance wise?

  • I'm going with the N64
  • I think the SNES blue chip games look so beautiful...even after 25 years, so detailed and colorful

I think almost any 2D games hold up, whether they're early NES or top of the line Saturn games. You could probably say that Intellivision or whatever is too primitive to hold I guess. Meanwhile, 3D games I thought were the best looking games of all time get outclassed within a year or two now.

This thread is about the physical appearance of the console itself, not the graphics.

    There's the door.

Damn! They're all fat ugly plastic gray and black boxes in a world full of tiny sleek metal smartphones and Macbooks Airs. I vote the Wii or Gameboy Micro. Everything else is too big
  • Ps2 slim (silver)
  • PS2, Dreamcast, and N64.
  • Not these ones, lol! XD

Reminds me of a Sony Walkman lol

  • The Gamecube, because it still looks like a cube and still comes with a handle to fend off attackers with.
  • Ps2 phat and Genesis 2 imo

I think pretty much all of the black Sega consoles look like something out of a dystopian future like Robocop

Is this a good or bad thing??

  • The Saturn is dead sexy.

The Neo Geo AES is sexy too.

Genesis model 1 and 2 still look awesome. Shine those bad boys up with some WD40!

    The Panasonic Q looks amazing.

    Panasonic 3DO REAL's a looker too.

    hmmm

Sega CDX is debatable since it kinda looks like an early CD player, but the JVC X'Eye looks awesome.
  • Dreamcast is Sega's most timeless console style-wise. It has a toad form factor lol
  • NES Top Loader by miles
  • Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2 slim or phat.

The rest are just old looking, but that does NOT mean they don't look awesome.

I love the look of the SNES for some reason with it's purple buttons.
  • Ya'll suck.

I win.  And no purple-pimpled JPN systems, please.
  • Gotta be that PC Engine LT!   Thats one Sexy Beast! Like a Turbografx and a Tank had a love child! Pretty sure it launches missles. I wanna go on special ops with this and just play it... in Fatigues.. in a Humvee... with Arnold!

Dreamcast is very close for me, but there's something intangible about it that I'm unable to articulate in regards to it still looking "toy-like". Perhaps it's the colors used. Same with the GCN. I can't take it 100% serious for some reason. I love the Saturn, though.

The Saturn was/is sleek as hell! Always one of my favorite looking consoles. It looked exactly like the Genesis would if it were upgraded a bit. The others you listed are aesthetically pleasing, although their game library is kind of lacking (IMHO)
  • Hm...PS2 or the black Gamecube...black systems seem to look the least outdated...probably because all the systems now are black...they also have flat edges...no curving like the N64...as much as I love the N64, it does look dated...

That's exactly why I chose the black GCN back in 2001; I knew it would look the sleekest over time. The purple one is obnoxious IMHO. The N64 now looks like a sad late 90's attempt at looking futuristic. "This is what the 2000's will look like!" etc.
  • Not in this order.

    Super Famicom

    Panasonic 3DO FZ-10

    Turbo Duo

    JVC X-Eye

    Sega Wondermega
Sony PSOne (the little white one)

PC Engine Shuttle <-- Always wanted one of these
  • Gameboy color

How the hell have I never seen or even heard of this before. It's a thing of beauty. I want one. I'd imagine since it's portable it has no region lock and can play US games right?
