chrissylas ... are you serious????? if what you have is true you have some very expensive $$$$ cha ching ching prots (except for strider - strider gets no love) ... anyway .... what you don't want to do is hide them in the basement next to the heat lamps used to grow "herbs" ... what you do want to do is store them in a dark closeted area (really the less light the better so the closet should be the safest place)
Keep them away from extreme hot/cold environments, and if you want to be crazy careful, put them in static free bags.
Very cool find, got any pics of the carts?
Even better advice though is to just dump them. You won't have to worry about bit rot or anything like that, you could just reprogram the EPROMs.
As to them not fitting in your NES, I'm assuming your first proto has chips that are soldered directly to the board, while this group has socketed EPROMs. I have the horizontal metal bar that holds carts in place on my CopyNES completely removed, carts with socketed chips go in without a problem and the carts don't move around.
I too picked up some nice protos. I've got paperboy, arkanoid, elevator action, and a couple other no-love titles As far as I know, they are the only known protos of these games. I need to check them out and compare as well...Been storing mine in a protected bag in my Nintendo toy chest Also, isn't there a proto list and who owns what? Didnt know if someone was keeping record of that
Chrissylas and ars2pd: Do you happen to have pictures of these prototypes? Those are some pretty sweet titles, and I would love to see what they look like.
As far as care goes, it's not much different than a regular NES cart. As long as the EPROM windows are covered, you're in good shape. People over-hype the fragileness of EPROMs, but they're fairly resilient. Like stated earlier though, you'll definitely want to have those dumped.
Well, long story short, way way back when Chase The Chuck Wagon was just starting up, there was a guy selling a prototype on there. I think it was top gun, and I lost the bid. I then asked him if he had others, and he said yes, he would sell them to me cheaper if I bought all of them. He wanted them to go to a good home, and I asked them what titles they were. These were all he had left. I ended up paying a little under $150 for all 4, plus like $5 for shipping. Thats around $38 a game I think. But since these are known to be the only ones, I find it to be a pretty sweet snag. Especially since arkanoid is a little more rare I will post pics of them soon. I have a sticky note blocking the eprom windows as well.

I think those are the "mexi-protos" I used to have. It's the same group of titles I sold off, all loose PCBs, so I am sure it is those.
Don't listen to these guys...they know nothing. If you really want to know the best way to care for them, send them to me. I will take good care of them.

More seriously, I don't think that humidity can be good for them.
