Question on foam blocks & batteries

I asked this in a couple of threads in the fo/ft subforum but things get buried there fast and they were old. Two things.

1 I'm looking for the best place to pick up foam blocks for NES boxes, both regular ones and some of the half size ones. Where's the best place to get them? I see them on eBay but they seem a little pricey.

2 Where can I have NES batteries professionally replaced (preferably with a non-soldered variety)? There was someone here that used to do it but I dint know if he's still active. I also see eStarland does it but I've never dealt with them

Thoughts?

  • By a non-soldered variety I assume you mean installing a battery holder; these are not that complicated to install, but for me I just found someone on Kijiji and he did a decent job, so look around to see if you know anyone who can do basic soldering; experience with Nintendo carts helps but is definitely not necessary.
  • Yeah, that's the thread I found before and haven't had any luck so far. I didn't know if he was still doing it. Thanks.
  • Yup that's exactly what I was trying to refer to  . I maybe could figure it out but I've never soldered in my life so I thought I should leave it to someone that knows what they're doing.
  • Thanks for posting bbexperience! Reminded me I need to make an order for styro blocks. Missing a whole bunch of them. I contacted Qixmaster

Reply back here if you have any luck with that. If you do I'll try contacting him again.
