  • That's super impressive. Way to go!!!
  • You've got an awesome collection, how much titles are you missing ?
  • ^, ^, ^ Thanks for the positive feedback!

And disrupture, to answer your question, im close to 1,100 titles and there are ~1759 according to my list, so im around 600 left lol. That sounds like a lot but im really committed to getting every game at this point and i cleared almost 100 titles in one month so if i continue to go at that rate i could inch close by the end of the year or at least id hope. I have almost all the rarest games except a few which is very motivating.
  • Time for a huge update --- it's been just about 2 months since my last one! I would be doing these more often but Photobucket sucks a large sack of nuts. I will need to find a new photo service for my next update as I can no longer stand Photobucket as a website.

OK first up, 2 more Mega Man games. I got both for $10 each which was a great deal especially for Star Force 3: Red Joker, which in my opinion is one of the hardest to find CIB DS titles out there. Also 2 more Yu-Gi-Oh games, $10 or less each:

Grey's Anatomy, the only game in this post that came from an online purchase. I have been struggling to find a complete copy of this for some time. A very hard to find title. Assasin's Creed II, which is also tough to find complete, $10, another Harvest Moon title, now I have 5 and need I believe 2 or 3 more. Shin Megami Devil Survivor 2, which was $12, Dynasty Warriors DS for $6, and Rune Factory 2 for $18:

4 new Star Wars games, the 2 Clone Wars games are DS exclusives and very good games actually. These were all $5 each, with the Lego game being $2:

A batch of shit, all of these were $1-$2.50 so I couldn't refuse. Plus, I am going for a set so I figure I don't have much choice here anyways. There must be 35-40 Petz games and equally as many Imagine titles. The only interesting one here is Imagine Ballet. It's a port of a Japanese game with a different title. A very hidden-ish gem type of game:

2 new Pokemon games, these were both $10 each and the Trozei game is a puzzler from Nintendo, so that's cool! Myst was $8, I almost never see this one locally, I'll probably never play it since I hear it and the 3DS ports both suck bad. Marvel Ultimate Alliance for $2.50, Fossil Fighters 1 for $5, Scrabble for $5, this used to be a very costly title years ago but clearly has settled down, and a mint Personal Trainer Walking boxed set for $1, which was a nice find!

7 Wonders II, I got this in Florida when I was on vacation last month at Target for $6. Zoo Tycoon 2 DS for $2.50, missing the manual tho, Dancing w/ the Stars: We Dance! for $1.00. So happy I now own this on Wii and DS (Sigh), Army Men for $5.00, Rock Band 3 and Rock Revolution at a $1 each, Cocoto Kart Racer for $5, which Cocoto is a huge shovelware title on the Wii, so this is also 99% likely to be the case here, and lastly my first of the 3 Hot Wheels games for DS, this one was $5:

Some junk titles, all at a $1 each. Professional Fisherman's Tour is one of the few DS games w/ rumble feature, which is interesting:

Napoleon Dynamite, which appears to be slightly different from the PSP version, $2.50, MySims Racing $2.50, Barbie for $1, Moshi Monsters: Moshlings Zoo (also on 3DS), for $1, Nicktoons Unite! $1, Winx Club (my 3rd Winx game on DS) for $7 (these are very tought titles to find usually), this one being the only one by Konami, others are by Little Orbit, D3, etc; A couple of Spongebob games for $1-3$ each, and Nicktoons MLB! for $1. None of this shit is exciting for me in this batch as almost every game here is on the Wii which I already have every title, so the only fun is comparing box art to see if they are the same game or not. Often times DS games are complete carbon copies of their Wii counterpart; other times it's a 100% different game, even by a different design firm.

Movie games, we got Planet 51, Up, G-Force, Madagascar 2, Harry Potter (one of a ton on the system), and Smurfs. All these were between $1-5 each:

Now for my 3DS pickups. Hatsune Mika sealed boxed bundle w/ AR cards and wallet. On clearance at GameStop for 30, Theatrhythm base copy w/ the stickers but missing the stylus, for $4 from GameStop in Florida while on vac., and also the bundled Curtain Call for $15 from Toys R Us in Florida, had to be careful not to crush it in my baggage. I tried to get this locally months back but all the TrU sold out, and I think it MAY have bee a TrU exclusive. Lastly, a One Piece Romance Dawn First Day Edition for $15, which has a cool slipcover and is #'d:

Jewel Master games $5, Dual Pen Sports already had this, but found a sealed copy at a game store in Florida, this has the dual pen styluses that I needed and are a pain in the ass to find. Classic Games Overload $8, Are You Smarter, a newer 2015 release from 3DS, bound to be rare in years to come, but also ONE OF THE WORST FUCKING GAMES ever, and lastly Mahjong 3D. Keep your eyes on this one, it's from a publisher with no other games released. The case and manual are different from larger publishers, a very unique title here.

Some AAA titles for my 3DS collection, we got Ultimate NES Remix and Luigi's Mansion, I bit the bullet on both and paid $20 for NES Remix and $26 for Luigi's both from GameStop. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon $4.49 at GameStop, and Madden NFL for $10 at a game store locally. Madden is very hard to find, because it's the only Madden and football game made for 3DS:

Moco Moco Friends from (one of the best publishers out there) Aksys on Clearance at GameStop; and lastly some of the AR cards, free promo games, and other 1 offs from past few months. The Amiibo challenge is a code sheet for a free game download for Wii U and 3DS. They were given out at Target stores. And the 2 Pokemon cards for GameStop exclusives during February and May. Lastly the 6 eShop cards have AR cards inside of them, and are the complete set of Series 1 and 2. A few of these are just about impossible to find, whereas others are in every store you could imagine. Unfortunately, I forget which are which as I have had these for some time now.

So there we have it. I think the best item I picked up for DS/3DS this past 2 months was Grey's Anatomy and Mega Man Star Force 3: Red Joker. Both are very tough to find. I am also working on my PSP, PS1, and Vita collections so I have to split up my spending money accordingly. Which in turn, has slowed down this venture for a complete DS collection. Not to mention local shops are beginning to run out of good stuff and/or I already have the titles. It will be interesting to see where my DS collection is for the next update (hopefully before summer is up). Thanks for reading!
  • Very nice pick ups man! Also use imgur.com for image hosting, it's way the hell better.
  • I thought tge republic heroes clone wars was also on wii.
  • Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Curtin Call LE wasn't a TRU exclusive. I got mine from Amazon and I saw it in GS stores as well.

Mahjong 3D wasn't the only GMG published game. Alien Chaos, Boulder Dash XL, Real Heroes: Firefighter 3D and Top Trumps NBA All-Stars were also published by them for the 3DS.
  • Part of me is super jealous of some of these titles, and the other half is relieved that I don't plan on picking up the 1000 pieces of shovelware on the system

Other than some of the puzzle stuff, which I have a soft spot for

Are any of the rock/music games any good?  Does the Guitar Hero stuff require the fingerpad thing?

The guitar hero and band hero games they made little hand grip controllera for those. You should also check out draglade and ontamarama, and there is also a good one from tecmo koei, but the name is slipping me at the moment.

Guitar Hero requires the pad, as does Band Hero.  Rock Band 3, Lego Rock Band and a few of the other music ones do not require anything, though only Lego Rock Band and Rock Band 3 are any good.  The Guitar Hero stuff, like the Rock Bands are just decent.

That's not to mention Elite Beat Agents (or it's Japanese sequel), the Taiko Drum Master games (Japanese Imports) and a few other quirky rhythm ones, those are pretty good, but nothing remotely in the same vein as Guitar Hero/Band Hero/RockBand stuff.
  • I can easily spot the PAL games on your shelves
  • I'm catching up, I am up to 8 titles! Woohoo! I have put a list together of about 50 to go for and that seems like a challenge. Nevermind a full set!

This is truly impressive, awesome stuff!
  • This is incredibly impressive! Nice work, OP!
  • Tell us what you think of the Imagine Babysitterz game once you've finished playing through it.
  • I am excited for my next update. I added something awesome yesterday... an item that was at the top of my list, that I actually found in the wild! It's a mint Solatorobo boxed edition w/ soundtrack. I had until yesterday just owned the game as a CIB. This game is awesome and to have the soundtrack (which is still sealed) and the cardboard box in mint shape is why I love collecting and hunting for games out there. FYI, Solatorobo is the spiritual sequel to another awesome game, Tail Concerto for the PS1 !!!

tubeway, I can't tell if you're kidding or being sarcastic. Needless to say, I have 1000's of games that I will never play and the only point of owning them is for sets. Having lots of shitty titles is a consequence for set collectors.
  • Is there any chance of this thread being updated?

It's one of my favourite threads on the site.
  • Last I heard, OP was on the receiving end of a divorce after neglecting everything else in their life to focus on hoarding games.

Okay! Sounds exciting! I look forward to it.

  • I was actually super into the DS from the beginning, and I would buy pretty much anything that looked remotely cool or good. Funny that Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier (phew) is a rare game now, since I paid 30 for it when it came out. XD I also got Retro Game Challenge on release day, and a number of other obscure games that people are only now discovering. It's been really nice seeing people discover all these games that, at the time, nobody could really talk with me about.   I also pre-ordered Radiant Historia when it came out, and got in on the special edition.

Boing! Docomake DS is a fun title if you can pick it up. Not sure how rare it is these days.

Also kudos on finding Avalon Code, as I was never able to locate a copy the entire lifespan of the DS. Missed out on that one. Also good luck on "My World, My Way" since I never found that one even during its release window. Sometimes DS games had ridiculously low print runs in Canada, and that must have been one of them. Finding an initial release copy of 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors was probably the most stressful and exciting game shopping of my life, since Canada barely got any copies at all. I have a lot of fond memories with the DS.
  • Update! 10/10/16 --- I've been on a DS hiatus since mid-august, so this post compiles everything from July to current. And like I said, nothing added since mid August and I am not sure when I will be able to get back into DS as supply locally has truly dwindled, plus it's getting harder to find titles I actually need, and finally because I have been focusing on other priorities lately. With that said, I still have a big update!! Enjoy!

Overview of DS collection, 1192 unique North American titles, not sure how many PAL or 3DS I have tho:

First up we have one of my most wanteds in 2016, the Nintendo Selects version of Frozen for 3DS. This is actually a real damn pain in the ass to find. I found a store about 40 miles away that had 2 of them for $12.99/ea. I only picked up 1 but I gotta say, I've not since nor anywhere else seen a copy of this. For a while it seemed collectors thought walmart was selling it but i amongst others never found one there.

I tried repeatedly to rotate this image but failed, sorry!! Here we have 2 horrible shovelware games, Girl Time and Dream Dancer, both of which are DS exclusives. Next we have Warrhammer 40,000: Squad Command, which is also on PSP. Next we have a Hardy Boys game which gets 1 redeeming factor that is SEGA. Next is Fast Food Painic, also on Wii and a very likely port of a pc game as are many ds games; lastly, the first Need for Speed's I have picked up on the DS out of 6 titles. All of these were between 1-5 bucks each.

A super shovelware block for people who hate me collecting DS games. Suck it hard! $1 each:

Here we go with something awesome! This was approx. $50 iirc. I already had the game by itself. I didn't learn till after I bought the game that it originally came packaged with an outer shell and a soundtrack. I am glad I found this locally and mint. After selling the original copy I had, I will most certainly have upgraded for free!

I didn't have a thread like this as I was first starting out collecting DS games. I obviously bought good titles and fun or rare stuff first. Which maybe down the line i can feature in individual posts. The stuff I pick up now is more or less shitty shovelware or junker titles that are for the completion of the set. Now whether or not I continue remains to be seen. Either way, here is 6 more titles, all 5 or less! Drawn to Life, the collection that features parts 1+2. There is also a SpongeBob Drawn to Life game, so 4 releases in the series in all for DS. I won't call it a DS series exclusive since Wii got 1 title fyi. Bakugan Battle Trainer for a buck - this has a glossy cover at least... so there's that. Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop, a Majesco series that never ends and continues to this day on 3DS. Narnia from Buena Vista. Actually played this one and it's not so bad; it's a different game wholly from the console versions. Di-Gata Defenders, a game I know nothing about, but maybe it is a kids show franchise on the Cartoon Network, if I had to guess. Lastly, Imagine Zookeeper, yay for a buck!

Best Friends Tonight, a DS exclusive and somewhat uncommon. EA Playground, this is also on Wii in variation; this version replaces my bootleg (1 of 4 bootlegs I own for the DS). Lastly, a game so shitty I can't give it a case. J/K, I was just cleaning it at the time as it had a GameStop sticker. Each a dollar or less (.89 at GameStop!)

Next up some funner things to add to a collection. We have the DS edition of Bust-a-Move, although there is also Space Bust a Move for DS too; we have another Avatar game, Challenge Me: Word Puzzles, which used to be crazy hard to find. Not too hard these days. Rune Factory 3, to complete my DS Rune Factory set, this one was $15 and an awesome series.if you adorn harvest moon. Chuck E Cheese's Playhouse, the 3rd and final Chuck Cheese game I needed, Finding Nemo: Escape to the Big Blue, this is the base edition which is rare and much trickier to find than the Special Edition of the game. Lastly, SpongeBob's iteration of Drawn to Life. All games 5 or less except Rune Factory 3.

Aquarium by DS for $1.00 but it is missing the manual. For a dollar I couldn't pass. Thrillville and Shaun White a dollar each as well. 2 different games than console versions yet once again even tho they have identical artwork. Disgaea DS for 12$ and Pimp My Ride part 2: Street Racing for $6, a big tougher title to find.

Price if Right 2010 Edition, how exciting! Not! Family Game Night from Hasbro, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Worms Open Warfare 1 + 2, and Slingo Quest. Most of these were 5 dollars each and I got the same trip to one store. I think worms games always are classics and on ds no less due to stylus control. Slingo is by mumbo jumbo who does high quality ports of pc puzzle games.

Oh goodness, shovelware pouring in alert! Lot of Littlest Pet Shop and Imagine games. Glad my daughter likes Littlest Pet Shop and horses, maybe she could actually put these to use one day!

Disney's Magical Jewels, Tinkebell's Lost Treasures, Suite Life, Pampered Pets, all 1 dollar each. Wonder Pets 5$ a bit tough to find (or high demand); Toy Story 3 and another Pet Pals game, 2.50 each.

Lastly, from the Cleveland Classic Arcade & Game Show 2016 in July. My first 2 Japanese games, both thanks to Captain Morgan Drinker here on NA. I have no idea what these are and I can't read Japanese but I needed to have a few in my collection. Oh and from a local game store, I found the UK game, Anno: Creat a New World for only 1 dollar. This was sitting on a shelf for at least 6 months. I decided to get it and low and behold it's a different game than Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery released in the USA even though they are both by Ubi and have similar box art. I will have to get my European DS collection together for a pic, but it's pretty dope and I am glad I improt every so often for the DS. Because it's region-free and there are a TON of exclusives from UK and Europe, it's a fun library to collect from.

So that's this update folks! Hope you enjoyed. I won't be back soon or at least until I have an update, HOPEFULLY between Thanksgiving and Christmas!
  • Wow, worth the wait!

Some great games thrown in the mix, there!
  • Congrats! Are you trying to get all the games? How many games are there for the DS, in total?
  • Really impressive collection so far, keep it up!
  • What do you do to remove gamestop stickers from the artwork? I've always avoided them for that reason.
  • Amazing collection! The DS has so many good titles, and often so many overlooked titles!

But my heart would bleed if I had to get all the "imagine" ds titles, the hundreds of "stop smoking", "yoga" and bizarre crossword/sudoko titles out there, just to complete my collection of every DS game
  • Thanks for positive feedback guys!!! Big update coming soon! Found Atelier Annie today for free. Super happy about that. Pic and story will follow. And i have about 20 other toughies clearing or cleared. Also planning to pick up a few tomorrow locally for cheap if all goes as planned. Thanks for following my thread!!!

I am trying but it is getting harder. The supply is diminishing online and finding completes are getting pretty tough. I guess ill try my best and just be happy i made it this far.

Theres about 1750 titles and i am at 1200, all cib, so 550 to go which means i am 70 percent right now. Scary but confident too.

Nice!  I've been looking for atelier Annie too. Looking forward to the update!

Same. I admire OP tackling this challenge, and completing it will probably be cool. But once finished, and with the hunt "over" (unless I were to keep trying to find variants just for the sake of keeping things going), I'd have a hard time looking at my collection and thinking, "Man. Three of these bookshelves are literally filled with total garbage I will never play, nor will I really be able to recoup my cost on, should I decide to sell them off."
