Coworker just offered me a bunch of GB game boxes
I don't follow values with GB and I haven't aggressively tried to expand the collection beyond the extensive list of titles I bought at retail back when they were new. I have a huge collection of Nintendo portable stuff, but my brother and I are the original owners for nearly all of it.
I just got a text message from a coworker. He probably knows I'm into retro Nintendo stuff, but I don't think he knows how much I hoard collect.
He sent me a message saying he's "cleaning up some old junk" and asked if I wanted his old Game Boy game boxes with "inserts and stuff."
He probably thought of me because I've brought home empty boxes from computer stuff at work when he was throwing them out.
Here's what I saw in the pic he sent:
- The Flintstones
- Mortal Kombat
- Super Mario Land 2 (I probably have this one)
- Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (I probably have this one)
- Spider Man/X-Men
- Raging Fighter
- Super R.C. Pro-AM (I might have this one)
- Tom & Jerry
- Home Alone 2
- Pac-Man (I might have this one)
- Kirby's Dream Land (I definitely have this one)
I probably have a few of these already. I don't know what "Raging Fighter" is, but I don't see any recently-closed on eBay with a box to hint at the value. At this point, I really don't know if this is a huge deal or not.?
He'll bring them to work tomorrow and I'll find out if any of them have manuals.

Which Flintstones?
Either way, get them! I'd be interested as well as many others I'm sure if you don't want them!!

Flintstones boxart looks like it's from the '90s movie.

Yes I know I also would be interested in filling in some gaps Either way, cool of your co-worker to think of you with something like this!

Super awesome.
Him: "Do you want these game boxes?"
Me: "OMG! Yes!"
Him: "Lol. I'll bring them to work tomorrow. The games are not in them. It's just the boxes and whatever inserts are in them.!"
Me: (flurry of pics of all the GB boxes I'm surrounded with)
Him: "LMAO"
Me: "Awesome, dude. Thanks!"
OWATE!
Thanks again, TriggerRedd.
Conditions look nice. Super RC Pro-AM is the version with the "Racing Set" tape stuck on the front. Wonder why he'd save them all these years if he weren't collecting himself? Tell him your bro says thanks too!
Edit:
To answer your question, its only a deal if you feel like it is. If I were given these items it would not be, whereas you do have some interest in Game Boy so it's probably a deal for you.
I kind of understand but the way I see it is, if they are giving you something completely free with an official Nintendo logo on it, even if you have no interest in that particular item, someone else probably does. This is nothing but trade fodder. Never pass up free/dirt cheap fodder, even if you have absolutely no need for it.
I'm not a box collector, but I do collect GB stuff and I do like to bump up the collectible level of some stuff in my collection that I had, and loved from my childhood. Since I didn't own a SNES until later in my life, Mortal Kombat for the GB was the one I had to suffer through enjoy.
So, if it's up for sale/trade, PM me. I don't know what it's worth or how much your looking for, but if it's within reason, I may be willing to trade or buy it.

Oh, I agree. I was just answering the question about whether or not it's a deal since these types of posts are usually not seriously asking a question. I found it amusing.
I'm probably on my own on this, however, when I say that I have enough stuff. I wouldn't take sonething I have no interest in myself unless I was going to give it to a friend for the same price I got it for.
Even if we weren't interested, turning them down would have likely doomed them to the landfill. From what I can tell these come from storage, not a collector. We'll happily give them a home. I don't think Ichinisan was wondering if it was a deal in the sense that he should or shouldn't accept, he was wondering it if was a high-value "score" since he couldn't determine the value of at least one. He definitely knew he wanted them, hence, "OMG! Yes!"
Those free NES boxes from TriggerRedd? I'm giving some away despite owning those games without boxes and I insisted on sending enough to cover shipping and a little extra. When he heard that I intend to start a public service with the box scans, he even offered to cover shipping but I wouldn't have it!
That Super Everdrive I got for $1.42857 was such an odd price because I bought a ton of other stuff (14 items total) from the vendor to sweeten the deal (for her) and that's what it came to per-item. I could have bought it for $1.667 with fewer items or $2 alone, but it didn't feel right. If I declined to purchase it entirely a profit-motivated / less charitable person (a different vendor) would have got it. I'm not just guessing either: I bumped into him later. I ended up giving him some of the stuff I bought because he was disappointed that I beat him to it, so even the per-item cost for me was a bit higher than I stated.
I've straight up given away several smaller things on NintendoAge that no one knows about because it stays in PMs. I think most collectors try to spread the love/luck around, and I definitely don't want to be the guy who doesn't. I gave a part to a member recently. I sent a free eReader card to another.
We flaunt the luck more than tooting our charity horn, but I hope that doesn't give the impression that we don't contribute.
I definitely have these boxes already:
- Kirby's Dream Land
- R.C. PRO-AM
- F1-Race
- Super Mario Land 2
- Wario Land (SML3)
None of these have manuals or clamshells.
All but 2 have plastic trays.
Of those two, one is missing the tray and one has a paper tray.
Most have NP subscription inserts.
Many have publisher advertisements, catalogs, registration cards, etc. One of the inserts makes sure to tell you the correct way to insert a game into the Game Boy
I'll consult with my brother. The R.C. PRO-AM box we already had is from the "player's choice million seller" reprint and has an ESRB rating. It has a big Rareware logo like the one they started using after Donkey Kong Country was released. No icon to indicate game link compatibility.
Combined with the hip pouch I got new-in-package at the Goodwill thrift store, this newly acquired R.C. PRO-AM and F1-Race seem to complete the "Racing Set" bundle since they all have that special logo tape on them.
God I sound like such a hoarder...
