I liked it. I must just have a soft spot for turn-based strategy because there were a lot of rough spots in this guy, yet I was still sad to see it end
- No variety in objectives. All 20 missions are basically destroy everyone and/or capture all the bases
- Terrible AI. Though really exploiting it seems like the only way to win. I usually tried to pull my forces back to one or two bases, and the PC would often stretch their forces thin trying to chase me, letting me pick off their air force while their heavies churned down the roads, while camping their bases with the other half of their forces, effectively splitting them three ways
- Slow pacing. Those units the enemy left on their base? Yeah, you're gonna need to send your heavy tanks across the map to kill them at the end, and it may take 30-50 turns. Blah.
- Lack of unit variety. You have light, medium and heavy infantry. Light medium and heavy vehicles. APCs, anti-air, bombers, fighters, and your heavy tanks which double as artillery. That's it. No naval stuff, no unique units. No boss units. No stealth fighters or recon or rockets or anything. Advance Wars it ain't basically.
Bump. I hope we can get to 380 by year's end. I have half a green title left for after the NES contest comes to a close, and then I'll probably try to find one more game I can clear after that.

Alright, I have to put SNES off for a little more. The 30x30 challenge has inspired me to tackle classics like Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, and Contra, that I've barely played, much less beaten. But I will get us some more clears before Dec 31
I always find it weird when people think MM2 is a hard game. I know that it's super easy to me because I've been playing it since I was a kid. And generally when I want to play NES, I'll do a full run of that and Duck Tales almost every time. It's to the point where I only die once and that's because I intentionally kill myself on a certain boss. It was actually the game I knew I would complete first for the challenge. That Ghosts N Goblins, though, ha... I don't think I'm even going to touch that because I know I won't get far.
I want to end the year at 150. I want that to happen on a green title. And I always wanted to actually try a Koei title. So I'm going to take a shot at Nobunaga...
Well shit, I was gonna reach out to bronze or S-16 for tips with that one, but it's unbeaten over there too. Guess I'll seek out whoever has cleared the NES version
