I've been saving to get a PSVR so I haven't picked up too many games lately but I did manage to get one gem of a title, Wild Arms: Alter Code F. It's pretty damn mint as well.

Nice buddy! Easily one of the most collectible, rarer titles on the system (and a fun series as well).
I'm not a big collector for PS2, just pick up the odd game here and there that I want to play. Noticed last night my PS2 was getting the disc read error with the blue back CD-ROM games. Was weird because it was only happening with the blue back games, not the DVDs. Did a bit of reading and what I found was the CD-ROM discs spin faster and thus harder for the drive's eye to read if its dirty. Opened up the console, cleaned off the laser eye with some Windex on a Q-tip now it reads all the games perfectly everytime. I hadn't played the PS2 in a while and guess it was finally in need of a cleaning. Oh happy day!
V Stock had another B2G1 sale this weekend. Stopped by one and picked up some of the ones I've haven't added yet. No killer scores or anything, but got the games at about 75% retail.
Also got another gem in the mail today . I really don't try to be a hoarder, but when 2 pop up at the same time after looking for awhile, I pretty much have to splurge on them.

So is one of those FIFAs gonna be on sale soon?
BTW, I'm going to RetroGameCon tomorrow with a pocket full of cash and an eye for PS2 so hopefully I have something good to post tomorrow.
I've never actively collected for the PS2, but it's such a damn good system with a great library, that yes, I do have about 150 games for it. If I put a list together of all the games I would want that don't have, I'd bet another 100 or so would be on it.
I picked up a bunch of nice games at RetroGameCon today. I've been wanting to get Klonoa 2, We ❤️ Katamari, and especially Kings Field for months. It was a good time and a good haul. Anybody have a manual for War Of The Monsters?

I started collecting for the PS2 this year, if you want to call it collecting. I only have about 15 games right now, but have a good 50 or 60 games on a list that I plan to buy. I definitely can't imagine going for a full set for PS2 or really any system other than N64. I only considered collecting a full set for N64 because it's my favorite system and has a relatively small library. But as far as PS2 goes, I largely neglected it during its heyday, since I was all about GameCube and GameBoy Advance at the time. I only bought PS1,2, and 3 for Final Fantasy games, as dumb as that sounds, and only owned about 10 games total during PS2's original lifetime. But now I have almost all the Nintendo games I want right now, so I'm looking at PS1 and PS2 (moreso PS2) to find games that interest that I missed out on. It's a lot of fun looking into another system that I'm not as familiar with.

Just some random pickups over the last week or so. Puts me over 1400 total games. Virutal On Marz has been on my saved searches for probably 6 months now and I finally got a copy for under $20. Also, if anyone is looking for Eve of Destruction, you might want to pick one up soon as it's been slowly creeping up in price. I passed on one for $25 early in this year and was thrilled to find one at the same price recently. Looks like it's a $35ish game now. There's actually a manual-less one on Ebay right now for cheap ($16), but the manual seems to be hard to find in general.
Some more random pick ups. Took a break prior to Christmas, but I'm back in the swing of things. Some came from my NA Secret Santa (futureman), some from a couple local shops, and some from V-Stock (got a B1G1 coupon from them).
Battle Assault 3 is definitely on the rarer side of PS2 games. I'm not focusing too much on rarities, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the top 20 for PS2 games. PES 2013 seems to have had a spike recently and is getting pretty tough to track down for a decent price as well.
Adding these, I'm at 68.6% of the standard set O_o
EDIT: Few more picked up recently. Mostly from a Flash eBay sale about a week ago. Glad to knock out a few of the RotTK games and Accent Core Plus has been hard for me to find with the bonus CD. Also, Fisherman's Challenge is a good under the radar game sitting around $15 currently.
Bumping this thread because I just got to 75% complete with the set! Also, I just finished finishing my basement (that sounds weird) and got my PS2 shelves built, stained, and up now! I spaced the games out to where I can see what I still need and where I need them. The shelves have space for about 100 more than the set (for some variants and such).
I have a complete US set broken down into several videos that go over each title. Keep in mind I do not have ALL variants, but do have all the available titles in the US.
That is the first video. I created a list (I need to dig it up) that was compiled from various sources to get an accurate list of what was released in the US.

That is very impressive. Congrats on the set! I like the shelving/set up you have - very neat and clean.
Thank you! PS2 was easy to complete here in Colorado. Everyone else is busy upping pricing on Nintendo, Sega etc. I was able to get games at an average of 2-3 per game. There was one game store here in Colorado that was doing buy 1 get 2 on PS2 stock and best believe I took advantage!

I'd love a list from someone who knows what they're talking about. I'm not a big PS2 guy, but I currently use data from PlaystationAge that I cleaned up to remove duplicates and non-existent games (pretty sure Rollercoaster Tycoon: The Peeps doesn't exist, but please prove me wrong). Given how enormous that PS2 library is I'm positive it still contains many errors.
I used the PS2 collector app for a while but it was totally wrong. It pulled some PAL and SP titles into their list, so I pretty much compiled a list from that, eliminated the PAL/SP titles and also used data from VGPC, and a website that had a list of US titles. I will look for the list, which I have in excel format, which is what I eventually based my list on. Once I find it I will contact you and others who would be interested.
What's the official count for the US library? I'm talking unique titles, not variants or anything like that.
I've got 1792 on my list, not including FIFA 13, after cleaning it up again and finding a few errors. Most of the others I've seen vary by 1 or 2 from 1795. I know K1rkl4nd's is 1795 (including FIFA 13) and he claims to have a fullset and his is probably the best list I've seen. I went through djdeus's videos maybe 6-8 months ago and matched it to my list to make sure I had all that he had. I remember him missing a couple though like Duel Masters standard edition and FIFA 14 (which was a US release) and 1 or 2 others. I need to go through K1rkl4nd's again to see why we are separated by 2 games. FIFA 13 was only released in South America even though it's NTSC, so the actual US library would be 1792-1794, probably closer to 1794.
And since I'm posting, I'm up to 83.6% (1500 games) of the black label set myself . I've got about 10 coming in the mail and hope to hit some out of town game stores this weekend. Man, does it become a grind after around 75%.
I actually have been getting a lot of ps2 games from goodwill. Last year i got like 12 games at one store and i got a few this year at a thrift shop. My problem is i collect anything game related so it takes a while to amass any one system lol

It can be crazy getting good lists for these systems with huge libraries. It certainly doesn't help that these systems are newer and don't have nearly the following that some of the older Nintendo consoles have. At this point, Nintendo sets are so well documented there isn't much to discuss. I had a hard enough time getting a good PS1 set, but luckily Dangerboy has the covered pretty well, so I stick to his lists. I don't believe I will ever have a full PS1 set, but if I was ever going to complete a system, that would be the one.
Do you have a list of what's missing? I highly doubt that I have anything that you need, but you never know. PS2 is either my second or third biggest set.
I'll take a wild stab and say that list I sent Dr. Robbie was 3 higher based on FIFA 13, the FIFA 07 Spanish Edition (should just be variant), and listing Cabela's Deer Hunt: Season Opener (the greatest hits of the 2004 season- also variant). The first because it's a NTSC U/C game, and the other 2 were placeholder reminders. I'll stick to 1793 as being a somewhat final NTSC U/C release total. Still working on variants and pre-order bs, though
What ticks me off is the prices that some RPGs are going for like the .hack games, then again they weren't huge hits so not many folks bought them leading ot them being a bit rare.
I figured some PS2 collectors might find this interesting: Controller adapter maker Brooks recently released a PS3/PS4 to PS2/PS1 controller adapter. It accepts USB and Bluetooth connections, so you can use a PS3/PS4 wired or wireless controller on your old system.

Knocked out probably the two rarest for the system over the last week
