Darn...I've been wanting one for a few years now but I keep putting it off because money is always tight around the holidays. More so this year, trying to build a computer. $600+ for a graphics card really hits you were it hurts when that's a whole months worth of SSI money. So yeah...it'll be a few more years till I get one I bet...

What in the world kind of computer are you building with a $600 graphics card in mind? I assume just gaming?

I plan on starting a mission to Mars.

But yes gaming. I want 60+ FPS in my games dang it! Fallout 4 mainly...Bethesda did such a shit show on that one...a lot of cards struggle with it. I want to make sure I don't dip below 60 FPS on ultra settings.

If you are paying $600 for a graphics card that offers 60 FPS, you are getting suckered.  If you need any tips, please PM me... I bought all the parts for my gaming comp (didn't build it, though).

You compromised if you didn't get the latest NVIDIA card.

Obviously that is always a possibility, but if you plan to get a full ED set by finding them for under $2 at a flea market, it might take you a while.

  • I've had good luck buying used ones from here. Probably around the same 20% markdown though, but they're totally worth it.
  • I grabbed an N64 v3 Everdrive from retrogate, but I guess I didn't select to have the CIC chip installed.   Hopefully they can redo my order before they ship it out and before the sale ends.
  • It's an easy solder job, all you need is a cheap N64 donor cart.

As an owner of several Everdrives and various other flash carts, also a bystander watching recently made games, I can assure you that $600+ for a gaming graphics card is a colossal waste of money, much less the Core i7 and other stuff you'll end up buying. Get yourself 4 or 5 Everdrives for that same amount of money and you'll have access to enough good quality games to last a lifetime.

Maybe he wants to game in 4K.

    On dual displays.

  • 4K is really, really overrated. Same with 120fps and upwards. It all looks extremely unnatural and jarring. I play games and watch video entertainment because it can't happen in real life.

Also, Astor is a girl IIRC.

I would possibly buy something else, but I now have a flash cart I like for each system that has one. Everdrive FC, PCE Everdrive, Super UFO Pro 8, Mega Everdrive, Everdrive 64, EMS GB Smart Card 64M, EZ Flash IV, R4i 3DS and WS Flash Masta. I'm pretty well set up now I think.

This is the first mention I see of retrogate having a sale and at first glance everything seems a little cheaper. Any gotchas? Shipping? Currency conversion?

It looks extremely unnatural and jarring only when extra frames are interpolated (read "made up") by SmoothMotion and other BS (mismatched frame/refresh rate w/no VSYNC). Having 120FPS natively generated on a 120hz display means 60FPS per-eye in 3D mode, which is a benefit. Only other benefit is for 24FPS source material (5x frame multiplier eliminates judder present on a 60hz display with 3:2 telecine pull down).

I played through Portal 2 at 2560x1600 and I can tell you that gaming in >1080p is not "over-rated." It's one of the greatest strengths of the PC platform.
  • I picked up 4 more: ED64 v3, SD2SNES, GB, and GBA

    $490.00 total.

So I check out with my Bank of America Visa check card. Then I get a flurry of text messages and notifications telling me of a "highly suspicious" transaction. Well, BofA blocked it and deactivated my card. This happens for Thanksgiving shopping EVERY YEAR. It's like BofA still doesn't realize it's normal for people to buy things at this time of year. Sheesh!

I verified the transactions were legitimate. BofA and krikzz.com do not make it clear if the charge will go through. After several hours, I reluctantly resubmitted my order. Now I see an email about failed payment, even though BofA didn't send me any notifications this time.

Can't reach anyone at BofA due to the holiday. I just don't know if my order went through or not.

Same thing happened to me (with two orders for Everdrives).  I just varified that I was the one making the purchases, and that there was no fraud going on.  After that, I resubmitted my order (after talking to customer service making sure they only charge me once, which they said that is what they usually do with multiple orders) and it worked fine.  Just make sure you send a message to customer service just to give them a heads up, even though again, it sounds like it happens often from what the guy that messaged me said.

Anyways, good luck, and fuck BoA.

I replied "YES" to the text message immediately to confirm charges were legitimate. The BofA mobile app also sent notifications. I tapped the notification to respond and the app launched with some kind of glitch/error message. I only saw questioned transactions when I hit the back button in the app. Then there was nothing indicating that it was waiting for a response from me until I tried to tap somewhere else and it warned me that I still needed to approve the transactions (which I had already done by text). I found the option after scrolling to the very bottom.

Then the transaction just says "pending" instead of "declined" or whatever. I called the number on the back of the card and chose the option for "recent transactions." The automated system just started reading them off to me. I said "I want to speak to a person now" and it said it was going to connect me. Then I got a message that they were closed due to the holiday. This was 6PM Eastern time.

Emails from Krikzz.com said to contact them as soon as possible, but I couldn't find any way on the web site. I had to hope that replies to "support@krikzz.com" reach a monitored Inbox. Days later, I get delievery failure messages that they were not delivered.

Anyway, I hope all is good with the re-submitted order. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to contact Krikzz about order/payment issues as the email instructed.

    [edit]

On mobile devices, the "Contact Us" option at the top of krikzz.com is only visible when I sign-out!

I hate so-called "responsive design" on web sites. Leads to nothing but crap like that.

The soldering job is pretty easy.  I got lucky about a year ago and picked up a N64 V4  V3 Everdrive for a cheap clearence price from SAG because it has the PAL CIC chip and they were changing over to the universal CIC.  I got the Everdrive super cheap, but I had to desolder the PAL chip and install a US chip.  It was pretty easy and my solder skills are only average.

I've seen the same thing, over-exaggerated detail and giant screens don't float my boat.

    I didn't even know they made a v4 n64 Everdrive!

I own a soldering gun, but I am terrrible at it.  Luckily Retrogate got my message and is sending it out with the chip installed.  Free of charge too!  I'm pretty exctied to be playing n64 again after years of not owning the system.

The version that was newer than mine was still a V3.  It's technically a V3.x (don't remember the number) and mine was a slightly earlier V3.x-1.  It remained V3 because the Everdrive itself didn't change.  They just came up with a way to make one CIC chip for all regions instead of a CIC that was specific to your region (I'm pretty sure that only two pins had to change or something like that).

***EDIT***  I now realize that I said V4 in my first post.  That was a typo.  Sorry for the confustion.

I would expect a few months wait.  At least that's how long it took last year when I ordered on Black Friday.

I think the standard is 20 days to mail, plus mail time. I'm looking in to the new year some time.

  • I tried placing an order for an item three seperate times on the Krikzz website, and I kept getting the message "PAYMENT PROCESSING ERROR".

Probably your bank or credit card doing the same thing mine did.

  • Order placed Thurs 11/24. Shipped 12/1. Dispatched abroad from Ukraine 12/6. No shipping updates from USPS end yet other than "12/6 - Processed through Facility - KIEV PI-1, UKRAINE".
  • Can't wait! Lot's of goodies on the way (Ichinisan already listed them). Can't decide what I want to try first!
  • Mine arrived 2016-12-20. So far, I have only tested the Super EverDrive. Super excited to try the SD2SNES and Turbo EverDrive!

Oooh that's great. I've been hoping they'd show up soon, tracking for mine says they left the Ukraine on 12-10-16. I got my fingers crossed for this week.
  • I found that the tracking number works for USPS after it left Ukraine.
  • I had no idea the tracking worked with USPS. Says it's at my post office out for delivery right now
  • Still no shipping notice from retrogate. I ordered mine pretty early, the discounts were activated Thursday night. Did resellers have bots set up to start placing orders that night or what? How long does it take to ship one Everdrive?
