Tab at the top because I'm right handed so when I pull out the game I want to be able to see the label without having to awkwardly bend my head around my elbow to see it. Same with boxed games, label goes to the left unless it's a disc and only has a spine on one side. Then I have to face it right.
Tab down, I do not understand tab upers. lol. Having the tabs down also helps them match the rows of CIB games I have on my bottom shelves. If I had them tab up they would not match the CIB's
Definitely tab down for me. That way the names on the labels are facing the same way as all of the other media on the shelves. I also put the sleeves on so that they cover and protect the label and the slanted opening is over the tab making the game easier to pull out. This system is set in stone, as it has always been, and ever shall be.
As a righty, when I pull my games out, I want to see the label easily, so tabs up. If the tab was down, the label would be facing the back of my hand, away from me, and I've have to pull the cart out entirely and flip it around. With the tabs up, the label would be facing me so I'd only have to slightly pull the cart out, and no sweat.
Also, if the carts are on a lower shelf, it's easier to see the end labels if the tabs are up when looking down. Tabs down mean you'd only see half the label mostly plastic
I am a tab up guy because I like being able to tilt my head and see my games stacked in alphabetical order. Plus I just prefer the way it looks over tab down
I am also fully aware that most other media is displayed the opposite way and sure enough all my DVDs and disk games all face the other (proper) way.
Before getting proper shelves like an adult I thought I was a "tab down" guy, but with the shelving I got I'm tab UUUUUUUUP all the way.
You can see the labels on the games at the end of the shelves and it allows the dust covers to stay long side down. Can't have the dust covers long side up, now that's just plain crazy.
I have a few stacked (only in groups of four though) in order to optimize space on my shelves. If you've seen pics of my collection you know what I mean
Mine are all stacked. It maximized the space of the shelves I built the best. (Built the shelves for using UGC's so whenever I get around to casing all the games the tab idea becomes moot)

Roar.
I do have a small stack since I ran out of room...really need a better storage option.
Tab down. It would drive me mad having to read nes labels one way and DVD/CD cases the other way
Don't collect 2600 games, it's the damned wild west. But yeah, tab down to try to create some semblance of order in my life.
That makes me angry just looking at it!
That's the way we like to....flupp

Tab down or get the hell outta town
You better watch your mouth or I'm getting you a swear jar
Your swear jar probably has like $600 in it already.
Haha not quite. Probably by next weekend though

Edit: Now with visual aid!
