  • 1985 but love the vectrex, just so unique, grew up with NES so love that but actually had a genesis and never played SNES, so really enjoying it now
  • I'm about 10 years younger than the Super Famicom.

I didn't think the 2600 had much replay value for anybody that didn't grow up with it.

My family was often behind the times when it came to video games so the 2600 was actually the first console I ever played. We later on had the collection of 30 Atari Activision games for the ps1 which I played frequently. So I actually have a bit of nastalgia for the 2600 despite it coming out 14 years before I was born.

The Activision titles are probably the best representative of the system.
  • I was born in '92 and my favorites always been nes. It's what I grew up playing, never got into anything else nearly to the magnitude I did with nes.
  • Born in '89. Favorite is the SNES, so I've got that edged. Tied with the Genesis, even if it technically came out before I was born (December). The only console I play older than me is the NES, unless you really want to count the Genesis.
  • Same here, krakensoup. My aunt was going to give me her 2600 w/30 games and I respectfully declined. I was born in '90 and my favorite system is also N64 but don't care much for modern games. It is probaby a similar scenario to those that prefer the 2600. If around my age, I'm guessing it's an appreciation for it pioneering video games? maybe? Idunno..
  • I was born two weeks before the NES came out in America. Pretty close to it coming out before me, but definitely my favorite system to collect for. My fondest memories are NES, SNES, and Genesis.
  • The NES for me, though I do have the occasional interest in the Master System/Genesis/CD.

I'm 23 and didn't get my first VG system until 2001 when I got the GBA. Ironically I'm not a fan of the N64 and PS1.

Yeah my dad had an Atari 2600, I played it for probably an hour total when I was a kid and even back in the 80s as a 6 year old I thought it was incredibly boring. But everyone looks for different things in games, what satisfies one person might not satisfy another. Those games are way too simple for me, but also many of today's huge 80 hour open world RPGs are too damn big for me too. But others may love either of those types of games. I think the history of video games in general is great, I love researching about it and reading about it, I just can't play pre-NES games for enjoyment. It's like, I'd love to learn about what living in medieval times was like, but I wouldn't want to live there.
  • Surprised to see so many posters born in the 90s.

As for OP's question, no. My favorite is PROBABLY the SNES and I was born before that.
