no. this crap is brought up every yearn in basketball and its not close there either. Absolutely not. Not even close. Browns have actually been competitive most of this season. Just find a way to lose. These are some of the best athletes on the planet on the browns. Most of alabama probably wont even amount to anything in the nfl.
Is Nick Saban still the defensive coordinator of the Browns? I think he and Belichick are going to get that ship turned around any time now. Wait, what year is this?
The Browns would beat them 99 times out of 100: 72-0. The 1 out of 100 is because the Browns bus broke down on the way to the game so they had to forfeit. Coincidentally, the odds of that scenario happening are the same odds of Alabama winning.
No. Every NFL starter at worst would be a first team All-American if they returned to that level. And the defense in the NFL is 100x improved over the college level
I know people who actually believe this stuff and it drives me crazy sometimes. Bama would maybe score a touchdown and that's only if the Browns went into Prevent, the worst defense ever. College to Pro isn't even close. During the next college game people need to pay attention to how often receivers run wide open and then watch a NFL game and pay attention to defenders always near a receiver when the ball is thrown their way. As for a college team running the ball, that would probably lead to negative yardage. Pro defense against college lineman. It wouldn't be close.
How many alabama players get drafted each year? 6-7? The majority of the browns roster, im sure was picked up in the draft. Incredibly more talent on a pro team than will be on a college team.
This debate came up a few years ago with UK's NCAA basketball team against the 76ers, iirc. I'm a diehard fan of my alma mater, but it's pretty silly for anyone to think the two leagues are comparable on that kind of level. The Browns are only bad by NFL standards, and would absolutely destroy Alabama and any other college team similarly.
I wonder if a bad-NFL-vs-good-college matchup would end up like the legendary Georgia Tech vs Cumberland college game that set the all time scoring record for football.
Well I should say never say never. It would have to be a monumental upset on the scale of Jets beating the Colts at SB III or the Miracle on Ice. Barring that, no way.
Absolutely not. The Bronws have 53 NFL players on their roster. Alabama 12-15 NFL players tops. Every player on the Browns is NFL caliber. That is not even remotely true for Alabama. Why does this always come up as a debatable topic?
Back in the day (up until 1976) there used to be a College All-Stars vs NFL/Super Bowl champion game played in the pre-season. The college dudes won a fair number in the early leather helmet years, but won less and less, losing the last 13 years of the game.
While I KNOW it would be absolutely 1 sided for any college team to play an NFL team, I do think that the top passing offense in college could probably hang with Green Bay's shitty secondary. That is if the QB got enough time to get the ball out accurately.
I know this always comes up for the NBA vs NCAAM as well, I do feel there that it would be more competitive. Probably 1 sided but more competitive.
Just don't forget, every NFL player is the elite of all the college teams combined. Even if Alabama does have a dozen or so players that would get a crack at the NFL, maybe 3 would be "good players", maybe 4 more after a few years "could" end up being solid NFL players, and rest would be working at Home Depot in 2 years.

I think there was a time when CFB and Pro-Football were probably closer to the same level, but that time is long gone.

Well if the Browns organization folded tomorrow and the players had to find new teams next year or retire how many would find spots on other teams?

Depending on their contracts, I would say most of them. Not every player at every position needs to be elite.

Sure but teams would have to drop one to pick up one. All the other teams are currently full and there is a full draft of new players on the way.

Browns would stomp them. No question.
I would say alabama wouldnt even score in the game.

Well, this would be assuming the Browns would even put any effort.
