Sealed ISSD: FAKE or NOT???

Need a little help here. I am about to purchase this and am unsure if it is an authentic seal or not. It looks suspicious to me, but then again I don't know anything about sealed SNES, especially Mexican ones, lol.

  • Hmm, doesn't overlap at the intersections. Looks a bit too perfect as well, but then again I don't know much about sealed games or if the Chavez games and ISSD were different seals.
  • Yeah...something doesn't seem right about that second picture...but I'm not the sealed expert...
  • Ha, you got emailed that too. I believe this is the guy who I bought my ISSD cart from a couple of months ago.

I really see no reason to doubt the legitimacy of this. I have a sealed copy of Chavez II (which comes straight from the basement of the former owner of ASC Games), and it is sealed in the exact same way.
  • I'm no sealed expert, but that looks real to me.
  • Hard to say but it looks fake to me. That 2nd pics shows seams moving up and down when they should be straight.
  • Looking at the first pic in isolation I would say real. Looking at the second pic in isolation I would say almost certainly fake. You need more and better pictures IMO.
  • How can anyone really collect sealed games, when the sealed game collectors can't tell a real from a fake? Like I said, I have a sealed copy of Chavez II that is sealed in the exact same way as this. This is the real deal.
  • It would go nice with that ISS complete you have image
  • Your Chavez II might be resealed as well then. It's impossible to tell from these pics.
  • Well, he does indeed own it. He sent me a few pics with my name in them. This one may offer a little more info as to whether it is a reseal or not. I still am uncertain.

Easy.   You ask for better pictures.

comments like this aren't really going to fly here.   please keep it civil, otherwise don't say anything at all.

regardless if you collect sealed or not a shitty picture is a shitty picture.

  • I would say fake from the pics. imo

    The seems appear off.

  • id have to see ventholes because the seams make it look like a reseal
  • i don't even see how this one can be seen as legit at all...most definitely a reseal. the seams aren't straight and the vertical seam isn't even in the middle where it's supposed to be.
  • The point is until you open a game there is no way to 100% guarentee authenticity. For what it is worth I think this is the real deal and represents a great opportunity to own one of the rarest snes games sealed. I have several snes games with the factory seal off centre, but this does not mean that they are reseals. What we have to bear in mind is that the games were part of a mass production and that variables in the quality of the seal caused by the manufacturing process are inevitable.
  • It looks good to me. Ask to see pics of the edges so you can see if there are creases and vent holes.
  • bronty should chime in here but to me from the pics it is resealed. john - does it have ventholes?

How should I know? It is not my game all I have seen is the photos that everyone else has.  The quality of the camera used and the way the light reflects on the surface of the plastic can determine whether you can see the ventholes or not, they are very small and may not show up on some photos.  This may have been resealed, but only close up photos front and back in the right light can prove it.

I have over 500 sealed snes games and NONE have seems like that game

    I'm just sayin'

  • Hey, I am never one to not back up my argument. I have attached photos of my sealed Chavez II, and you can clearly see that the style of seal is identical (I got emailed high resolution photos of this ISSD, just to be clear). My Chavez II is 100% legit, as it came from the basement of the president of ASC Games.

Regardless, that box is in mint condition, and would be worth something, reseal or not. I'm not here to criticize sealed collecting, but it hurt the legitimacy of the hobby if the proponents cannot tell whether a game is a reseal or not.

  • Thanks for posting the Chavez 2.

ISSD is a reseal. The Chavez 2 appears to be the real deal.

Look at the seams on both games. they are not the same. The seal on the ISSD looks fabricated and inconsistent.

    edit: i cant spell

  • the chavez 2 seal and issd seal are not identical... not even remotely. i'd say reseal on ISSD.

job well done if you were trying to lower the value of Chavez II further. LOL.
  • lol that chavez ii isn't even close to what the issd looks like. Like maximus said, the chavez is most definitely legit, the issd is a reseal.

I hope you paid braveheart licensing fees before you posted that.   He has that trademarked image

  • Looks like a reseal to me. I am pretty sure raregamergirl has this and ISS factory sealed, if you could track her down, maybe she could confirm.
  • It's as fake as the day is long. I've never seen a sealed game have that kind of pitting (for lack of a better term...I'm referring to the tiny dips at the ends of the seam in the 3rd picture) at the ends of the seals, unless it was resealed with cheap cellophane.
