Help finding a rare game

Hi everyone, this is my first message here and I hope it belongs to this part of the forum.
Once I got to play a pirate nes, one of those with tons of games in one cartridge, or even built in the console memory. And although I've been able to find the name of most of those games nowadays (things like challenger, binary land or devil world), there's one game that noone else seems to know.

I don't remember the graphics too well, but I do remember the gameplay: It was a game for one or two players, with static one screen levels (like the ones in bubble bobble or snow bros), where you had to kill all the enemies to go to the next one. To do so, you had to dip yourself in some kind of paint jar, and your toon turned that colour. Then, if you hit an enemy with the same colour, you killed it and your toon lose a third of its colour. After 3 hits, you were all drained and just the outline could be seen, and hitting another enemy meant loosing a life. You also lose a life if you get hit by an enemy of a different colour.

I have asked around some other forums, but seems like no one else remembers this game or has ever seen it. So... has anyone here seen this game?

  • Is it like Trolls on Treasure Island?
  • Not really, I forgot to say it's a plattformer, like bubble bobble.
  • Sounds fun. I'd like to try it.
  • I was thinking Trolls as well. The game is actually really annoying though. Sounds like the one youre talking about might be fun.
  • Yes... It was one of those classic "clear the screen to advance", which made really good arcades... snow bros, rod land, tumblepop... but I'm really starting to think nobody has ever seen that game...
  • Probably a Famicom game.
  • It's entirely possible that it was "original" to that pirate cartridge.
  • I have finally found a video proof of the game I was looking for, the name was Elfland:

It seems it really was an "original pirate" game, and it even comes included with some kind of small console called one station, wich has some multi cartridges with nes and genesis games.
  • Nice game, its like snow bros. but with paint. Nice music in the beginning...
