Poetry: The Gaiety of Platformers
I am working for this NA post on my collection of video-game themed poetry expressing the abundant gaiety to be had within the platform genre, which is my favorite. The first poem in this collection is an ode to Gex:
The Song of the Pre-Rendered Gecko
Gently and sweetly doth thou caress
The slender tail of scaley Gex
And with this Miss Sophia shows
Her FPS and RPG woes
Too much had our generations beseeched
The normandy beach of the Gears of War
For Medals of Honor doth men implore
The Call of Duties in training reached
But bored as I was of dainty play
Where zombies and bullets were sent astray
In 2D first, then 3D last
A gecko who survived the past
Long forgotten but now a sage
Of an entertaining and better age
For hours long he sat bestilled
In front of a cable TV scene
And taught the ways of classic play
To bring anew the platform way
...Hoping to post more.

Truly, to you, do I employ
These expressions of my ecstatic joys
Is it because of the way you fly?
And the puffy cloud of your gentle sigh?
The first wish I made upon a star
Sent you tumbling with it from afar
And candy-colored dreams galore
Had washed up on the barren shore
My darling creampuff, so sweetly cruel
Swallowing hearts of wicked fools
Recovering health for a missing few
To restore his power and live anew
