I just finished madara for the nes
Ok, so right off the bat let me tell you, im a huge jrpg fan. Especially the 8 bit ones. I've beaten 90% of what's out there. So when I say madara was one of the best I've ever played id like to think it comes on good authority.
It's slightly different from the typical menu based rpg (has a stratagy element to it) but I think it still counts as a jrpg.
Over the last year I've collected repros of the famicom exclusive Konami RPGs, espers dream 2, Lagrange point and finally madara. Espers dream 2 was a lot of fun but very short and pretty easy, Lagrange point was also an amazing game but not too far from the norm(other then the futuristic setting). Madara on the other hand was incredible. A real treat. Even for an old pro like me it kept me on my toes. A few flaws that I can get into if anyone's interested but all in all a very worth while experience.
If anyone is as big a jrpgs fan as I am, do yourself a favour and give it a try. (Just don't get discouraged by havin to grind a bit right off the bat, its annoying to have to grind a few levels before stepping more then a screen from the first town but it's a well balenced game after that. I didn't have to grind again until the lead up to the final boss)
It's completion has left me w only one game on my nes rpg to do list and that digital devil 2, a game that is yet to get a full English translation, though it's been in the works for a while now. I really hope it gets finished.
Anyone else enjoy madara? Any jrpgs I may have missed that you'd like to recommend?

Alternatively, email kody from ocd reproductions he'll whip you up one. It'll probably run you $80+ though.
