Found new Gumshoe Variant!

Ok this was great find for me today to add another BB variant to the collection.  The funny part is I got in two of them CIB and both were the new variant... go figure.  Still no 3-screw or non-hang tab box yet but who knows... the hunt continues!

Left to Right:

1) Nintendo "Seal" Sticker with no back code and no "TM" after NES on front... 5 screw cart with no "TM"

2) No "Seal" Sticker with Back Code and NO "TM" after nes on box or cart

3) No "Seal" Sticker with Back Code WITH "TM" after NES on box AND Cart

I have CIB doubles of all 3 variants if anyone wants to pick some of these up.  image

  • Er...which one was the new one image ? I take it the one on the right was...am I correct?

As for your offer of all 3 variants...how very tempting. At the present time, however, I'm a bit low on funds :/ ... I have one of them pending in, at least (it'll be my first CIB Gumshoe) image .

EDIT:  Actually...hm...  Does this one look like it ever had the Nintendo sticker seal on it?

This is the one I have coming in...  The back, according to this picture, is without code:

  • Yes that is the first variant minus the seal sticker... you can see the circle part on the front of the box where the sticker was lifted and took some paint with it.
  • Eh, it's what I thought image . Oh, well, heh heh... So how many total black box variants does this make for you now?
  • I'm somewhere over 170 stopped counting them... image

  • Ugh...man, do I have a long road ahead of me image . With the pending arrivals, I'll have a grand total of 18 (only counting the ones in boxes...outside of boxes, I'll be somewhere into the 30's, I think).
  • lol I knew damned well clicking in here that it wasn't the nonexistent 3-screw. Even when I saw your avatar pop up, I still knew image Grats on the new find though. The fact that there are SO few variants for the Gumshoe box compared to other BB games is just another nail in the coffin of the possibility of a 3-screw existing. The fact of the matter is: this game was just a poor seller and hideously unpopular. Even being a later nonrelease title, it just didn't see production late enough to get the Rev-A treatment.
  • NO but I had to make it interesting enough to entice you sir. image Although this is the closest variation to the non-hang tabber that I've found so far... so it IS a STEP! image
  • 170 varients? Especially funny when I think about how excited I was to finish off my cart only BB set last week.
  • The funny part is I found 2 more after this one already and I didn't bother posting them since I knew I couldn't get Dangevin going like I knew the Gumshoe one would! image
  • Will you someday post a listing of all your BB and early nes variants?
  • Yes I will get around to it eventually. The problem for you Blarky is that sealed collector's will never be able to collect all the variants since some have the same box but different insides and some have the same carts but different boxes. image I'm up to around 400+ sealed NTSC NES now but I've only bought the ones that I knew either didn't have variants or only have very obvious box variants.
  • Haha true! I guess all the sealed collectors could worry about are the box variants. At least to me, that's still great info to know. BTW congrats on having that many!
  • Very cool! I'm amazed at how many black box variants there really are.
  • If I didn't have other deal obligations for the next couple weeks, I'd probably hit you up on those variants. Nice finds image.
  • Any chance the Gumshoe I sold you was any help in your discovery?
  • Based upon Braveheart's info, the 2 sealed Gumshoes that Briantoys had are/were technically variants as well... see if you can spot it image

  • Thars be a "TM" a-missing     <<<<<<<

^ SPOT THE VARIANT SPOILER ALERT!
  • LOL...that took me about 10 solid minutes to find...
  • Is this new variant actually a good game?
