As a kid, I liked Mortal Kombat more. As an adult, I sat down with Street Fighter IV and really fell in love with that. Now I can't stand to play fighting games like MK.
I probably played more Mortal Kombat back in the day but I'd say that Street Fighter was the better series. It seems like MK always relied more on gimmicks than solid controls and gameplay like SF did.
Here you go. The entire series used to be on Youtube.
Dude that's seriously awesome. I didn't actually think you meant a produced thing. I'm going to have to Netflix the crap out of that when I get the chance. I was picturing some jobbers screwing around on youtube
Also, Street Fighter got Raul Julia to ham up to 11 and chew the stage on his final performance, playing M. Bison.
You just can't top that, sorry MK.
Raul Julia was a perfect Gomez Addams in my opinion. Also, I'd like to mention that I do have a soft spot in my heart for the original MK movie...I had taped it off payperview when I was a kid and on the same VHS my parents at some point taped over the second half of the movie with Species. Damn man that scene with the boobies and Natasha henstridge turning into an alien on top of Michael madson....seriously
Mortal Kombat will always have the top spot in my heart but my brain knows Street Fighter is better. I think the brighter colors and more diverse characters make it much more appealing and I always remember having more fun playing Street Fighter at arcades. Mortal Kombat seemed more like work (if that makes sense). When you were playing MK, people were playing to destroy each other. You needed to put in work to earn the right to play on even when all you wanted to do was play Cruis'n USA because the arcade version has the chick in a bikini and not a t-shirt.
I like both for various reasons. I think Street Fighter was better early on, but then when UMK3 and MK Trilogy came out I played more MK at that point. My bro and I use to kill Randper Kombat with the other code that would turn the 'lights' off and on.
I was playing Pocket Fighter last night and thought it was a lot a fun. I really like both series.
As a youngster I loved Mortal Kombat but didn't care for Street Fighter. I was drawn to MK for its violence, the fatalities, and the strange characters. As an adult I love Street Fighter way more. Mortal Kombat is still fun to me, but Street Fighter seems to have so much more depth. Also, no Blanka in Mortal Kombat

The best part of the Mortal Kombat games is the fatalities. As far as fighting mechanics and characters, it's Street Fighter for me
I think they just got kind of lame after 3, though. It was never too serious... but it seems after that they were more just a joke way to end a fight.
Easy. Street Fighter. They even have a live action series on YouTube, very neat!
