  • Holy crap...

This is why I hate getting games in bubble mailers. It makes me cringe every time.

Bubble wrapped, and in a box. From USPS? Yeesh, I wouldn't expect that.

    Sorry to see/hear that!

The box has track marks... like it was caught in some machinery or conveyor belt.

Looks like it. That or run over, but those wouldn't be the markings of a car tire. Maybe some sort of forklift ran it over.

  • Wow, wasnt expecting it to be that bad. Sorry buddy. Good luck with talking to usps, but i wouldnt be too optimistic with a first class package like that.

That's my thought. Bad enough it was run over, and with the amount of pressure and the coloring left on the box it WAS run over, but to deliver it like that with no explanation or attempt to rectify is ridiculous. Insurance is a moot point in this situation because this is obvious negligence and if they don't compensate both parties legal action should be treatened and considered. This is just sad and lazy on the part of someone in the postal service.
  • Jeez, talk about negligence. Hope the postmaster will work with you.

Not expecting anything to be done but im gonna make sure they are aware of how shitty the service was on this one.

Maybe backed-up onto but not fully run over. One side is crushed and the other is mostly intact. Really looks like it got wedged into something while the wheel/belt/whatever kept turning over it.

Not that it matters. Value's destroyed either way.

  • I wonder if the game still works
  • I guarantee the board is just as cracked as the plastic.
  • its on its way back. ill update with more horror pics upon return.
  • So... can we bid on the wrecked copy when you get it back?

lol sure need to recoup something on it.

  • Send it to VGA and get that coveted Q10 rating! Yessss!
  • Who the hell packs a CIB game that way? I would make that fool pay for it. It should have been double boxed... Or put into a bigger box with a crap ton of filler. UPS sucks, but the idiot that packed it holds a chunk of the blame.

So you say OP is at fault?

Yeah, that idiot is me. Thanks for the kind words. Might want to read a bit before mashing the buttons next time.

  • I think whomever thought it was a good idea to put a CIB cardboard game into a small thin cardboard box has a chunk of the blame. There is not a person alive I wouldn't say that to their face. Yes it being ran over is horrible. Don't get me wrong there. I would feel more sympathetic if it was properly packed to begin with and then ran over. If it was in a decent size box, its more likely it would have been seen and not ran over.
  • Well, that's still negligence on the postal worker's part that caused it. There should be no need for a big visible box just to make sure it doesn't get run over.

Yeah no need for the third person anymore, again its me who packed it. I am not looking for sympathy from you or anyone, was just sharing the story. Calling me an idiot is your perrogative I guess but I'm sure your not perfect by any means either.

I order those boxes online specifically for CIB's and have been using them for over 5 years with no issues, so yeah theres that as well.

    Cheers and happy holidays!

Sorry, it isn't the most kind way to say it, but yea it wan't a good way to pack the game bud. My opinion means dick in the world, but I call it like I see it.

Oh I wasn't mashing the buttons, I read the post.

  • Call me crazy, but a $50 game doesn't deserve double or triple boxing treatment. A box should be more than sufficient on stuff at that value. If you have to eat a loss every few years than that is still much cheaper than buying insurance every time or overpacking things to withstand a nuclear explosion.

You obviously didnt as you responded as if I'd received that game like that and was placing blame on the sender. Otherwise your just an (insert expletive) yourself.

  • A $50 game or $1,000 game should get the same treatment if you are selling it on the condition of the box. Charge an extra few dollars on the shipping cost to prevent this from happening. If it can't or won't be properly packed, don't sell it. The amount of money is a shitty excuse. To some people, $50 is a lot of money and they want their big investment to be treated well.

I believe in treating others the way I would want to be treated. I take pride in what I sell and trade. If you pack it in a skimpy box to save money and only get burned a few times a year good on you. It just makes you look like bad seller that doesn't give a shit about the guy buying it. I am sure some will apologize and make it right and others tell the buyer to piss off and fight the insurance group.

I am not trying to start a fight. I just don't care enough about it. I do think with a post like this there should be more than just apologies given and look at what other steps could have been implemented to prevent this situation from happening.

So in a box big enough to push it into Priority Mail territory, even though hundreds if not thousands of CIB games have been sent in the same size box over the years and made it just fine.

    Got it.

  • Lol, apparently you should package everything in steel boxes from now on, Ryan

This is a clear case of USPS package mishandling. I really can't conceive how anyone would see this differently. The integrity of the outer box should be maintained by the carrier. This thing was FLATTENED

You aren't trying to start a fight but you keep going on and on?

The point here is that a box is more than sufficient 99.9% of the time.  Quite literally, I'm sure I've shipped at least 1500-2000 packages by now and I've had it happen once, I bet VGD has a similiar rate.

If I have to eat an extra $2 or $3 on 1,000 items, I'm out $2000 to $3000.  Or, I use the packing that works 99.9% of the time, and in the event that this $50 item is a total loss, I refund the buyer and apologize on behalf of the USPS for screwing it up.  The box wasn't the problem, how it was handled was the problem.

Complaining about the box here is like complaining that your First Class package was lost because I didn't overnight it with signature confirmation.  When what you are doing works 99.9% of the time, you keep doing that and suck it up when something goes wrong.

So you need to get over this "it wasn't packed properly" because it was.  The value of the item most certainly does matter.  A ding on a $50 CIB is not going to matter as much as a ding on a $2000 sealed game.  You pack one to withstand a tank, you pack one to withstand the normal elements.
  • I have some extra ammo boxes laying around that you can use. Was gonna save 'em for shipping my CIB Saturn sports commons, but looks like you need them more since you're apparently shipping through an active warzone!
  • The whole thing is there was nothing that could have been done to stop this from happening......Only the postal service worker being more careful.
  • Good gawd people lol lets bicker about something else, hell we have F2 drama going, now this started to turn into one, hell I even bitchranted in another thread myself.

Think the year end and holiday stress is really rampant.

...and this damn phones autocorrect is mental, like needs help mental.

Step 1: Don't let USPS run over your package with a tank?
