How long have you waited on somone to complete a deal with

Well I've been in front of a CVS waiting to close a deal & was wondering how long anyone has waited before giving up. It's a great deal. A new 3dsxl $55. The seller keeps asouring me she is on her way. She just needed to finish something. I'm sure this is real as she even dropped the price explaining she lost the charger. What you all think? I drove a hour to pick up.

  • I think you're gonna get robbed.
  • Robbed on Christmas eve? Noooo, THAT never happens....
  • Andy spending money and in a sketchy situation. I think I know how this ends!

In all seriousness, if they're not there within 15 minutes of the agreed upon time, I go home. Unless they call with an excuse. "I have to finish up a few things" is not an excuse.

15 minutes is my maximum wait time, unless they have already arrived on location and are looking for you.

  • It suuuucks waiting for someone like that, but if you really think they are coming, I definitely understand how 15 minutes can turn into an hour of waiting for a good deal. They definitely owe you a discount though.
  • By the way, if they "just need to finish something," then they aren't "on their way" yet. Unless they are finishing something while driving, they haven't even left to meet you yet.
  • You still alive Andy?
  • Now taking odds on the following outcomes:

He got his 3DS and is on his way home - 10 to 1 against

He's still waiting there - even odds

He's in a pit somewhere with lotion being lowered to him in a basket - 6 to 5 in favor
  • I hope no big jolly men entered his chimney.
  • I'm alive. Picked up a red 3ds for $50. Hopefully I can flip it fast.
  • How long were you waiting there?
  • Another Festivus MIRACLE!
  • I'll give you $80. I'm on my way to send the money, I just have to finish something first.
  • A couple months ago I was meeting a local from a FB group to give away an RF switch. He asked the group if anyone had one. When I responded he asked me to bring my extra SNES stuff for him to go through. I grabbed a bunch of racks and organizers stuffed with my dupes and accessories. He said he was 15 minutes away when I set up to wait for him at a fast food joint with an outdoor seating area and every 15 minutes he just kept telling me he'd be there soon. Eventually he apologized and said he had to turn around and go back home for something. He asked "how about tomorrow?" I had work straight through to the next weekend where I had three days off, so we arranged to meet the next weekend. I kept all the stuff in my trunk and contacted him early Friday. He didn't contact me until the next day to say that he was out of state and would be back that night. Didn't hear from him. Contacted him Sunday morning and he didn't respond until Monday, when I had work 9-days straight (11.5-hour shifts). Nope. Not even going to ask if he wants to meet another day now.

I was just trying to help out a local who specifically asked other locals if they had one of these for him. Not sure why it's so hard to give it away! I see him on Facebook often but I never respond now. It was pretty disruptive to keep those weekends clear and to babysit the stuff in my car.
  • In the future I finish a deal I waited my whole life for.
  • People suck, and will often burn you. CL is the wild west. You take your chances; I hope it works out, OP.

An hour and a half wait and they only dropped the price by $5? Wow... you can barely buy a combo for $5. At leaat you did not get robbed I suppose.

Day isn't quite over yet there buddy, keep that glutius maximus body glue nearby.
  • I've had some deals take a long time. Longest ones for me took years to complete.

It usually happens with larger and one of kind items.
  • Years. I have two deals now that are both two years plus. But if you know who you're dealing with, no big deal to me.

EDIT: Haha, read the OP. Yeah, that's different. An hour might be tops for me, but that would be sans contact.

Man I've been outside this CVS for 18 months now and it is starting to get cold. Are you saying I should call it quits?

  • If someone isn't there in 15-20 I'll leave. Doesn't happen often, I'll usually ask for text/phone conversation before the meeting.

I worked on one big deal with a guy for over a year. It turned out well.
  • I wait up to 30 minutes depending on the deal (I'll wait much longer for musical equipment than I will Nintendo/SEGA stuff). If after 20 they don't update me, I call. At that point I usually know whether I'm staying or leaving. I've never gotten shafted from CL, surprisingly.
