Horse-racing games: Where to start?

Where would you suggest a person start when getting into horse racing games? Does anyone have any experience of what they're like and which are the best (in english, of course)?

  • I don't know anything about actual horse racing games but Pocket Card Jockey on 3DS is not bad.
  • Best one I have played was gallop racer 2003 on ps2, you can breed your own horses and run them in stakes races to win endmof season awards and you get to,wager on the races
  • There are quiet a few on ps2. Gallop racer, breeders cup, multiple years of each.
  • Win, Place & Show is a board game from the 70's thats pretty solid. Thats as far as my Horse Racing gaming knowledge goes...
  • If you're going for the "start at the very beginning" type thing, you could with Steeplechase for the Atari 2600.
  • Stakes Winner 1 and 2 for Neo Geo.
  • Legend of the mystical ninja (SNES)
  • Back to the Future III on genesis.
  • You can race as a horse in Daytona USA if you input a code.
  • Any of the Winning Post games.
  • Barbie Riding Club had a horse racing mini game in it...I kid you not. Man I loved that game when I was little.
  • Horse Racing on Intellivision or Winning Post for Saturn seem like the logical choices. Almost everything else I know of is Japanese-only.
  • For those going to a horse or dog track for real, always remember to bet on the one that does his business right before the race starts

Don't forget Lucinda Green's Equestrian Challenge, Barbie Horse Adventures, and Let's Ride Silver Buckle Stables.

Honestly, I know very little about the horse racing games, but from the gameplay I've seen, the Gallop Racers seem to be the best quality on the PS2.
