Large Instruction sticker covering back of box?

I just got some free NES game boxes from a garage sale. Looking through them, I noticed something wierd, my 1942 box has a GIANT black and white sticker covering the back of the box, with the game's description and instructions on it. Looking through the boxes, I noticed that Magic Darts has one too. Has anyone seen these before? If so, where do they come from? Do many games have these stickers?

    That sounds like rental instructions. Rental companies used those so they didn't have to keep up with manuals for games.

    Oh that's interesting, I've never heard of a rental place that rented out the boxes with the game... makes sense though.

    Usually they are stuck to those clamshell clear boxes, but I have seen them on the real boxes as well a few times.
