Large Instruction sticker covering back of box?

I just got some free NES game boxes from a garage sale. Looking through them, I noticed something wierd, my 1942 box has a GIANT black and white sticker covering the back of the box, with the game's description and instructions on it. Looking through the boxes, I noticed that Magic Darts has one too. Has anyone seen these before? If so, where do they come from? Do many games have these stickers?

  • That sounds like rental instructions. Rental companies used those so they didn't have to keep up with manuals for games.

  • Oh that's interesting, I've never heard of a rental place that rented out the boxes with the game... makes sense though.
  • Usually they are stuck to those clamshell clear boxes, but I have seen them on the real boxes as well a few times.
