When does your mail come in?

I have the most inconsistent mail delivery imaginable. 2:00pm, 4:30pm, 10:30am (wtf?), those were the times that the last three things were delivered according to USPS tracking. And they're not big packages, just individual NES carts in bubble mailers, along with bills and junk mail etc. The morning one was really weird. And it's not just the holiday season, it's been happening since I moved here in July.

At least it's better than my last place, where mail was routinely delivered after 7:00PM.

  • Hmmm, never really gave it much thought to be honest....Actually, doesn't even bother me enough to even exhaust any thought at all on it.

Like I tell my girlfriend, when it comes, it comes.

If you were living on your own and were having packages left out all the time I could understand though especially if it was more convenient for you where you lived before.
  • Delivery during the holidays is very inconsistent, so it ahould be going back to normal soon.
  • I dont know. My landlords parents get the mail and drop it in my mailbox after I get home. They even sign and pay for customs if it needs it, they're awesome about it.

He said it has been like that since he moved there in July, maybe the mail person just likes to switch up the route to keep themselves on their feet.

  • Yeah, it's definitely not the holiday.

I just like to get my stuff as soon as possible, so I'm a bit of a mail tracker watcher.

    My bad!

I thought it was part of his signature, like my cheesy one.
  • 2:45 today.

Why must you vex me, USPS?
  • I send everything to my business. 10:00-12:30. If it comes after 11ish my postman comes in in a bad mood...
  • Mine comes in anywhere between 12-2pm pretty much everyday. I think there was one or two times it came at like 3 or 4pm but i think that it was a substitute delivery person
  • Mine usually comes everyday between 1130 am and 1 pm. When she has a package for me she honks the horn and pulls into my driveway. She then brings it up to the door and knocks to see if anyone is home, if not she will leave it on the front porch unless the package needs to be signed for. Then she will try again tomorrow.

You totally just made me go re-check...........

  • 3-4PM like clockwork. During the holidays it is usually around 7-730PM

How long do you plan on having that as your signature? It would be funny if you kept it for a while year. People who are not in the know would be confused.
  • It is completely random here, thanks to our "marvelous" public, government funded, postal office service that has full monopoly of the market.

    AKA, it doesn't work.
  • Mine is terribly inconsistent. Generally anywhere from noon to 4. It's actually really frustrating.
  • In the afternoon
  • Between 9 and 11am dude rips though here like he's in a race and never had any problem with getting the wrong mail. If it's a sub then that's a whole different story. :/
  • My mail comes around 11:30am Monday through Friday. Usually around 2pm on Saturday. I get really frustrated when the mail is late.
  • Mine is usually within a two-hour window, which is more than reasonable. I'm usually gone at that time so I don't really care one way or another.

Where I used to live, it could come as early as 10am, or as late as 5:30pm. I remember once, it came twice in one day.

    Only in canada

  • Ours is usually pretty consistent, midday. Lately I have noticed sometimes there is a different mail person. When she delivers our mail we get it very late in the day...7pm or so. I just assumed our normal guy was taking vacation and part of his route got added to what she has to do that day.
  • It all depends on the route and if it's got a regular carrier. My home's route is typically later in the day, doesn't matter if it's summer or winter (and heavy on the packages). Anything before 3 isn't gonna happen and it's the same carrier and has been for ~4 years. At work, I had times that I got mail at 10:30 AM, the next day at 6:30 PM. Different carriers every day because the regular carrier could never keep up with the route, so others when they were done would come over and cover.

Carriers also cover their zones differently, so the regular carrier may start on one end, another could start on the opposite side of the route. I know my offices old UPS driver went one way, to hit the bigger building last, while the guy who took over the route when he took a more lucrative one, hits the office buildings first, leaving the shops last. That made for a post lunch delivery for the old driver, and a pre lunch delivery for the newer one.
  • 11-4... all depending on how large the package is and how busy the mail people are.

Also, there's like 4 different ways I can receive mail. Okay, 3. Canada Post (I have to go to the mall), Purolator (Purolator outlet), UPS (UPS outlet)....

If it's Canada Post and small enough to fit into my box, they'll leave it. But if it's a large package then I have to go to the mall to pick it up.

The door to door mail system in Canada is fucked up, I prefer a local box. Canadians will know what I mean.
  • If it's our normal mailman, it normally arrives around 1:00PM--sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later, but generally right in that ballpark. However, if he's out/on vacation/whatever, all bets are off. The "holiday help" were all over the place with their deliveries this season and managed to lose/misdeliver the first Amazon package I've ever had go missing. I know the package wasn't stolen, as the other part of that Amazon order shipped via UPS and was waiting on my porch when I got off work and went to pick it up and unless the thief was totally incompetent, somebody else ended up with my package and just kept it. The next day, I ended up with somebody else's Amazon package which was relatively nearby but not remotely the right street, house number, etc.; they were a street over and a few doors down, so dropping it on the correct door was simple--but apparently too complicated for the USPS "help."

In regard to my missing package, Amazon went ahead and rushed a replacement the following day with no questions asked; UPS dropped it off right on time but totally didn't wait for me to answer the door and sign for it, like had been requested/required. At least it arrived, though, right? (throws hands up in exasperation)
  • For the most part, it's been consistent. The business we work at, we have the mail come in around noon-ish.

I don't expect any mail to come in down to the second, but at the same time I do worry if the item itself takes about a week and a half longer than the expected date.
  • Usually after 2 days.

    England is tiny.
  • Usually we get our mail around noon. Unless it's hot, snowing, raining, or slightly windy. Then we get it around 4.
  • During this time of year they have seasonal employees, dedicated package deliveries, and enough volume to turn a normal route into multiple routes, so the scheduling is going to be all over the place. I've heard that some places even get two mail runs per day so that they can move the volume out in manageable batch sizes.
  • Between 11:30a and 2:00p
