My 5000th post on NintendoAge!

I've been saving this post for a while now until I had a decent idea that was worthy of it. I figured that while 2016 has been a rough year for many (i.e., celebrities and politics around the world), I could show some of the cool additions I have acquired this past year!

This past year has been interesting...My wife had to quit her job due to a recently diagnosed neurological condition in January, we found out she was pregnant in February, I graduated with my masters degree in June, moved across the country to Minnesota in July to be closer to family where the moving truck broke down in New Mexico and the movers who transferred our stuff to the new truck damaged A LOT of our items, finally sold our house in Arizona after months of wasted time with three buyers backing out as well as me passing the biggest exam of my life for my career in August,  finally got a new job in September after a month of interviews, and our kid was born in November where there were a lot of complications and I thought I might lose Mrs. Toupee, but thankfully didn't.  Whew!!!

Through all that, I still hunted (mostly on ebay since I don't have much time to hunt in the wild and my tastes are...rather unique). So thank you to NintendoAge, Dain for the site, and all the wonderful members who support me in my Exertainment love affair! Here's to another 5000+ posts!

Some of this year's finds (the rest are packed away in storage at the moment):

Snagged myself a Sharkwire for the N64, which I'd been looking for for awhile, jumped on the Crystal Pepsi bandwagon, and got some crystal clear Mountain Dew too (which sadly tastes more like Sierra Mist honestly)

Made tons of progress on my PS1 long box collection. Just need four more!!!

Got a CIB Romscanner for the Atari 2600, a CIB NordicQuest for the SNES, and another copy of MBR because that's my jam...

FInally got a copy of Pokemon Yellow for the NES (thanks to laddersandcakes as my NA secret santa), the faceplate/head unit for the LifeCycle 3500 so I don't anger Mrs. Toupee in buying a whole new Exertainment bike, and a Game Guardian video game lock for the Genesis, which I never new existed! It goes nicely with my SNES Game Guardian I posted in a different thread!

Also got a CIB (basically NIB) of the Wii Cyberbike that I posted in another thread awhile back. Excited to have this with my other bikes!

And finally, the best addition to my life in 2016, Little Toupee:

Thank you all again for being awesome and I look forward to 2017!

  • Hell of a year, my friend. Cheers!
  • Your kid has one hell of a determined look in his eyes.
  • Congrats on a cool milestone and all the personal accomplishments listed above. Enjoy being #1 while it lasts - player three will be giving you a beat down in no time!

As a busy guy, I scan through the posts pretty quick at times, but I always scroll back up when the iron avator (which is awesome and should never be changed) catches my eye. Hope you post another 5,000 times
  • Congrats on the personal achievements! Let us all hope for a better 2017 ahead of us!

Side note, best of luck to anyone who might cross Little Toupee's path... he looks like a little butt kicker.
  • Nice post to recap your year. Congrats!
  • Congrats, and here's to the next 5000 posts!
  • Congrats!

Wait, did you seriously watermark your baby's pic?

Yes, I've seen enough of those shady Stadium Events listings on eBay and Craigslist to know not to let my pics get stolen...

  • Is it me, or do you not have alien trilogy long box?

    Congrats btw!!

I do have it, but it's packed away. This shelf is two deep so there are another 22 behind the row you see. I have all the others in bins in storage. Once I finish the set, I'll get them all out and take pictures and post and comment and all that jazz!
  • Cheers, mang!
  • Nice! Yes your tastes are rather unique   but that's awesome, seeing a collection with stuff that not everyone has. It'd probably be really fun to dig around and see what other unusual stuff is packed away in there

Indeed! I love digging through my totes and remembering where/how I got all my weird stuff!

  • This was a great year in review thread! Here's to next year!
  • Congrats man, here's to a better 2017
  • Congrats playa
  • Congratulations on a big milestone and an even bigger year!
  • Welcome to the higher echelons of post count!

Awesome write up, dude. Thank you for sharing. Epic congrats!
  • Congrats! I have to say that Sharkwire has really caught my eye. I had no idea that there was a 3rd party internet service for the N64, let alone it was possible.

Yeah, it's an oddity that I just had to have since I have the Xband keyboard and cartridge for the SNES. Now they can go together!
