  • I don't really think more people are smoking now that it's legal in places or that they're smoking more. Those people probably smoked already and the same quantities. Perhaps it's something with the regulated weed that causes an issue if it truly is tied to that.

Dunno. Weed isn't my thing. Just my thoughts.
  • My friends seem to think marijuana is the cure to everything I am sure they would deny this article.
  • "caused by heavy-long term use".. Big surprise! Abusing something causes negative side-effects.

If this is true, it isn't just caused by "smoking weed" it's caused by someone severely abusing it. People smoke way too much (I used to be one of them). You get to the point where you don't enjoy it anymore and it's just something you do all day, every day. Self control goes a long way in every aspect of your life.
  • Interesting diagnosis! I'd guess, like the video stated, that it's more prevelant because people are more open about marijuana use as weed is becoming more acceptable in many states.

Hopefully people don't look at this as a...puff piece... where the media is just...blowing smoke...

A person can die if they abuse water.

    We should ban water.
  • This is hilarious.

Has anyone bothered to listen to the side effects during pharmaceutical commercials? Most times they can worsen the disease, cause thoughts of suicide, and all sorts of crazy stuff.

IF this article were true... we're talking about a tummy ache.

Sounds like some "fake news" to me...

I'd like to second that we ban water, great idea! Burn it, burn it all to the ground! ALL THE WATER MUST BURN!

We should dump all the water into the ocean, like the Boston Tea Party.

I see absolutely no logical issues with this plan.

    Perfect!

Then you can bundle up all the weed and burn it all at once in a giant bon fire.

The whole world will get the pasties!

We have to ban food too because eating too much can cause harmful effects.

  • Banning banning is the way to go.
  • I'm glad there are no diseases related to smoking or drinking. People would have to stop doing those too.

Imagine if poor eating habits had side effects.

  • Stomach probably hurts from that big ass bag of doritos and 2 liter of dollar dew
  • So a small number of people who have been smoking weed for years may get tummy aches? That's awful, oh wait it can be cured with a hot shower? Lol

The drugs are bad mmkay camp is really stretching it with that one.

Point being, anything in excess is going to cause harm. Drink enough water and bad things can (and will) happen.

It's silly to ban things just because they can cause problems in excess. Nobody who knows anything about cannabis will say it's completely safe with absolutely no side effects under any conditions. That crowd tends to be kids trying to justify their usage.

And for the record, I don't use, I just don't like the idea of telling other consenting adults what they can and cannot put in their own body in the privacy of their own home.

Cures an upset stomach every time
  • People need food and water. People don't need drugs. As natural as weed is, it's not food. Also, smoke of any kind, is bad for you. These simple principles should tell you that weed, at best, is a sometimes activity, not all-the-time activity.

The reference to banning food and water was a joke, one that has already been explained.

And marijuana can certainly help people with certain illnesses, to the point that it could be argued that they -need- the drug.

  • Sometimes ganj makes me suffer from being in the Zone while playing vidya games, my friends get really mad at me and sometimes swear at me.
  • anything that is grown from the planet is bad and anything made by pharmaceutical companies are good ...?

to much of anything can be bad or is it good .... its for the individual to decide what is good or bad ( besides everyones make up is different, so its a board opinion on the situation )
  • phew good thing i do coke

Agreed. I know first hand how helpful it can be for certain health conditions.

I have people around me that need it to function because they suffer from MS, crohns, chronic pain(fibromyalgia and arthritis), and even Sceleroderma. It can be a life saver for some. But definitely has its side effects.

But i trust weed WAY more than i ever trust any opioid or any other drug the pharmacy tries to sell me.

I am supposed to be on Lyrica, but the side effects are like 2 pages long, with sudden death being one of them.

  • Jeez, people are touchy about their weed. One article and people flip out about banning. Damn NA hippies need to chill out.

Reading the article, I wouldn't be surprised if people like that guy have some kind of undiagnosed allergy to marijuana. There's a lot about the finer points of health impacts of using marijuana we don't know because of the illegality of the drug.

PS. Snowsauce, I understood fully what you were going for there,

  • Dumb article. Anything in excess is dangerous.
