Giving up diet soda for New Years
Honestly, this stuff is like crack to me. It's the quickest and most efficient caffeine delivery system short of snorting caffeine tablets, and I love the taste and carbonation. Anyway, I'm giving it up for good since I know this stuff is bad for me. I expect 7-10 days of misery before I get over it.

Black coffee is the way to go.
I just don't like the taste.

Ah too bad. I love the taste of coffee, stronger the better. What kind of tea do you drink? A good black tea works as good as coffee.

Not a fan of coffee either. I gave up soda for a while too and switched to unsweetened ice tea, Tejava specifically because it doesn't have coloring or preservatives that would affect the taste.
Soda I only drink if I am having some rum with it.
Good luck to you man, hopefully it isn't too difficult!
It was tough but worth it. Worst thing was the headaches, but I quit cold turkey. That was the only way that worked for me (I tried to "taper down" in the past and failed). And it wasn't easy. For instance, my work has a free, all-you-can-drink Pepsi fountain always online and well-stocked. So I had to stay out of the breakroom entirely for the first few weeks. Now it's easy for me to say no every time. Good luck to you!
I switched to plain unsweetened ice tea - we get large ice tea bags at the grocery store and I use three of them to make a gallon at a time. A lot cheaper and a lot better for me IMHO. I occasionally have a soda of some sort now and then but nowhere near the quantities I used to drink.
Coffee though, I need at least once a day
I wish I could kick the habit but...at least it's not smoking right?
For caffeine, usually I drink black coffee. Tea is also a good choice. The best teas are made with clay pots, and I hope to experiment with the art of tea making in the next few months. Already have my clay pot picked out and ready to go.
