Hey, totally the wrong place for this probably, but it seems relevant enough - is there a month/weekly NES competition? I'd like to take part but 1) I don't have my SNES set up and 2) No way I'll beat you guys at my two worst genres, racing and beat em ups.
Admittedly, I haven't put near the time in this year that I did last year. Even if I did though, there's no catching pegboy. Miles will likely come in and knock me down like you mentioned too. Not a matter if but when

there are 2 new games every month for snes. Next month is Gradius and Bust a Move
Set up that snes and participate. It doesnt matter if your bad at the games. Give them a shot. Still have a week of this competition left.
There is an NES competition every week. They are finalizing the game list for the year for that one still.

Yes, bimmy_lee runs the weekly NES thread. It will start within the next month most likely. The monthly nature of this guy was intended to complement their weekly format.
And this month's competition is just one of eleven, with points carrying over for one final tally. So, participation is never meangingless in the long run.
Whats the deal with the only 2 death rule for TMNT anyway? Is there a way to farm infinite lives or something? I'm probably not going to play it but I'm just curious.

You start with 2 lives(well 3 because zero is a life) You get another life for every 200 points. This way you dont have continues and score reset. With 2 lives you can see their score and life count and can tell if its 2 life rule.

My testing told me it would be the right amount of challenge. I think its too easy of a game to do a full credit, and it didn't seem like a great candidate for high score.
And quest is right, it makes my job easier to see where you stand with a pic

yeah i can easily beat the game if given a full credit. I get up to 1000-1200 points which gives me 5-6 extra lives on top of the 3 you start with. 2 is a challenge. You cant goof off with 2.
After I beat it last time on a practice run it said I beat it in 25 minutes on the game end screen. The game really isnt that time consuming.

ya done good son. one credit for hard mode. but on defualt one credit is way easy.

I agree. Having only two lives has been a really fun challenge. Ordinarily I can steamroll my way through the game on one credit no problem.
Any word on what the tie breaker is going to consist of? I can see woRm and I getting to the end, neck and neck.
prob points. unless you can no death. no death might be my only shot because im not good at the bonus stages.
I'm working on no-deathing it now. I'm good all the way up to the Bebop and Rocksteady fight, and that's mostly because of the damn yellow footsoldiers with the flying discs tearing me up, forcing me to grab the pizza. Out of context, that last sentence just sounds weird.
Outside of that boss fight, I got all the way to the second Krang without dying, easily.
i only played this game a few times back in the day w/my friend who had all the games. i love the turtles so i figured id participate plus, ya know, sandafloor.
See, I got this game for my birthday right after it came out(I was a HUGE turtles fan back then) and played the bejeezus out of it. Memorizing how to mix up combos to attack multiple foes, etc. I've never no-deathed the game, but I've beaten a few thousand foot soldiers in my time.
Hey, hope this is ok. The pause button doesn't work on my SNES controller, so I just took a photo as quick as I could. I got to the level 3 boss and had no clue how to beat him, so he destroyed me lol. I may be able to get farther when I'm off work, but I figured I'd give it my best amateur try and put SOMETHING in.

Have you tried the Select button? I know I forgot and thought it was Start(like 99% of other games out there) and was thrown off by Start not doing anything.
Ohmuhgahd really? I had to hit Select? I'm sorry lol. My SNES controllers all suck, so I just figured it was that! D;
lol no worries! I even reset the game, and fumbled through the title screen using the Slecet and Start buttons to be sure, because it seemd off to me too.
Quick question - I assume that even if I get free lives (as I did here), it's still just "two lives", correct? So I can stop here, and start over at the beginning? Thanks!

got my mario kart time way down on all tracks. Got sub 5 minute overall time now!
I know I can do better on ghost valley and koopa beach. Any better on bowsers castle and vanilla lake will just be fraction shavings.
Great job Jeff!
thanks. Im sure you and miles will beat it though haha
I got 4th last year. I anticipate around the same this year

Jandrem's back in the lead, sounds like Kobra Kai needs to go back to practice
hey sandafloor! splinter just told me real ninjas finish on hard mode. whats tge deal!
kobra is waiting in the grass for now
But anyway. Updated score. Stage 6
