Yeah, I've played some Ninja Turtles in my day. This one is my favorite by far. I usually play for points, but going for progress proved to be a different kind of challenge, so it was quite fun.
Hope you stay for the long haul competition. Sucks when people dominate one game out of nowhere and bail.
I've played in the NES competitions a time or two. I don't usually start playing in them unless I know I'm going to be able to stick around. I always get hung up on the time involved, but I think monthly contests will be much more manageable.

I know I can do it. The only time I lose a life is to the yellow disc soldiers right before Bebop and Rocksteady. If I can get the drop on them, I can no death the whole thing. I never wind up with a very high score, though. Not even close to 1000, so I'll likely still be third place even if I no death it.

Sigh. I really wanted to buckle down, dust off my SNES, and master those Mario Kart tracks. I reserved a spot on the first page like the cool kids. I had a vision of slowly improving on each course, slowly chipping seconds off my total time. But January has been an extremely busy month. I got some Game Boy games polished off during breaks at work, but free time at home is all gobbled up by my new adorable baby. No complaints and no regrets obviously. Maybe what I need is a portable SNES!
Anyway, I pulled Mario Kart up on an emulator the other day and slammed out some times just so I could say I participated. Did a few runs of Bowser Castle 1 to get the hang of the drifting. Didn't really matter Hopefully future months will be better. Total time by my count is 6:15:07. Didn't even attempt Turtles.
Gah! I beat it without dying and didn't get a pic in time. I got distracted and forgot to pause. >.< Gotta do it again. Ending screen doesn't show lives remaining.
Edit: Updated. No death, 1036 pts. Unless I get bumped out of the top 3, I think thats it for me. My left thumb hurts, lol.

I'd say my best tracks were Rainbow Road and Vanilla Lake 2, the other 3 I know I can do better although I absolutely hate the Bowser Castle courses, especially the bullshit in BC3 which has a 100% element of luck with the wall of thwomps.
The bonus point for Super Mario Kart will be for times under 5 minutes. I apologize for the delay on getting that finalized; going forward all games will have one published early in the month
