  • Hey guys, I've gone ahead and made some times on Mario Kart. Pretty happy overall, considering I suck pretty hard at racing games, and both my Start and R buttons don't work on my controller for the SNES, so I can't pause, or drift...

    Total time: 5.50.63

I know I can do it. The only time I lose a life is to the yellow disc soldiers right before Bebop and Rocksteady. If I can get the drop on them, I can no death the whole thing. I never wind up with a very high score, though. Not even close to 1000, so I'll likely still be third place even if I no death it.

The real points come from throwing the foot soldiers into the screen. 3 points instead of 1 is huge. You can also score 50 bonus points each on the bonus stages if you get perfects. That's hard to do, but if you can do it consistently, 100 points would obviously make a huge difference. There are bonus points to be had for beating Super Shredder without getting hit, as well. I played through again trying to max out the score as much as possible and I ended up with around 1350. You could probably get to 1500 if you manage to toss every single foot and score perfect on both bonus stages. Now, on hard, I can get over 1400 pretty consistently, so I'm thinking you might be able to get as high as 1600 there. This is, of course, assuming you don't intentionally point rack against Shredder or Krang.

    stop giving up the goods!!!

i didnt even think about pressing shred and krang.

    sandaaaafloooor!!! rules!!!
  • so sanda since its a two life max run, point pressing is allowed   correct?
  • I'd need more details but indefinite point pressing is always prohibited
  • Once I was able to beat it without dying, I started noticing the difference in points from throwing, slamming, or just knocking foes out. If I get knocked out of the top 3 I'll try again, but for now I think I'm done.

Originally I was going to wait until the last day or two to post my first score, but it's better for me to post early, establish a benchmark, and work on improving, as others come in and knock my first attempt out of the park. Hell, my first post only had me at Stage 6, and now I can no-death the game. That's progress!

Looks like I will be playing agian tonight

Still got to post my crap Mario Kart times. Not a fan of it on the SNES (Mario Kart 64 FTW)

  • I really enjoy SMK on the SNES, but I'm not really any good at racing games. I don't think I used the power slide at all in my times, and watching Pegboy's videos just blew my mind.

shredder stage 4. infinite spawning foot soilders. as long as you dont throw them, you could press points until you lost s life.

stage 9(?) the starship. super krang will drop those lil robots for ever until you destroy him.

the shredder tactic takes a lil skill. the krang tactic is easy.

maybe, one life, hard difficulty, max points. press as many as you can w/your one life.

  • Posted SMK score page 8.
  • updated tmnt

stage 9 right before boss. got shocked twice trying for point grabs. never done that before. Easily beat the rest without dying. I can no death this game so easy. Just cant do it under pressure of the competition. I guarantee you I will play tomorrow and no death it too late
  • I will do final updates and update the scoreboard tomorrow
  • Damn it! NA time!

Lucky for you, NBA Jam is one of the January games next year.  You can hold out that long.

  • Okay, I restored Shino's post. I'm not going to worry too much about Gloves' score because it doesn't matter for points; everyone at that point is getting 3. Everything should be finalized shortly

Thanks dude. Again, my apologies for getting the end time screwed up. Won't happen again. Also looks like I will need to stick with my flat screen. Every picture I took on the other tv came out terrible.

This was blast by the way. Some of you guys definitely forced me to rethink my strategy. It was hard to stop using Leo but once I figured out Michelangelo was such a power house the decision was easy.
  • Since I had a few people asking about this here are the videos for my Mario Kart times this year:

  • Insanely well done. I bow to your racing prowess.
  • hey peg. On your koopa beach one there still is a fraction of a second you could take off on the last lap by going to the right. The finish line invisibly stretches over the water. Well done on the times though.
