Ring King? Anyone have a...

Hang tab box to go with the 5-screw cart?

I've got 3 different boxes but no hang-tab box.

From left to right in order of release procession...

1) NO REV-A No Yellow Band

2) No REV-A With Yellow Band

3) REV-A with Yellow Band

Since the 5-screw cart has the code on it I suppose it could go with box #1 as it has the code on the inner flaps too.  Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks!

Ask Braveheart, he's the expert for that kind of questionimage.

  • What he said!

But seriously for now I just put my 5-screw cart in the #1 box. Would love to be proved wrong though.
  • I'll check mine when I get home.
  • When was Ring King released? Karnov 5 screw is also Data East, same era... actually was this variant ever confirmed?
  • No Karnov 5-screw cart has been found "YET" Josh!

Well, I've never seen one, but I'm starting to learn that that doesn't really mean much! Bronty has said in the past that, according to a reputable source, one exists.

  • Yeah no kidding right. There have been so many confirmed to exist 3 and 5 screw carts and matching boxes in the last couple years it's been crazy. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see one.
  • ^ well if it does exist (outside of the unique Konami oddities) it would have likely been one of the last true 5 screw games produced.... i think release date on it is something like 3/88 if memory serves me right.

This is where i got my information as well.  Can't recall if it was a box with a hangtab. or a five screw cart.   I don't doubt it...

with the recent finds (especially that 3 screw DK jr Math), i wouldn't be the least bit surpised to see a 3-screw gumeshoe or clu clu land show up.
  • I still swear I've seen a 5 screw Tyson, though people think I'm crazy image I'd love to see this confirmed one day so I know I'm not losing my mind.
  • Hehehe... I hear that Jonas... because the strange thing is I would swear in court that I sold a hang tab box Ring King about 5 years ago back before I collected variants. I remember exactly where I was and where I took the picture everything about it. I remember holding two copies of it in my hand and going humn that's odd this box is different but then just keeping the better shape one and selling the other anyways.
  • I just checked and all of my variations are non-hangtab.
  • Do you have the same three as me then Dain O Mac? Also I would then assume that your 5-Screw is in the non yellow band box which is the first in the string of releases?
  • Mine are also non hang tab.
