I've been a bit of a "trophy whore" for the last 9 years or so...
Well, in some Nintendo games (especially a lot the blue chip ones) you can get stars/icons/badges and such on your title screen or inventory/quest screen...doesn't that count?
Is it very much like Xenoblade Chronicles X? I loved the world, but wasn't a huge fan overall... the music and characters in particular fell kinda short for me.
Most people who loved Xenoblade Chronicles feel the same way you do about X. The first Xenoblade Chronicles has much better music, story, and characters. It is an absolute must-play for the Wii. Also highly recommend Boom Blox and Rodea: The Sky Soldier (much better on Wii than Wii U).
Wii sports is about as simple as you can get. But they did add tiny details to make it interesting. Its been a while so I don't remember everything but it wasn't just jerk off the controller and win
We dont speak of Mario Party 8. Also little king's story and Rodea are goos games.

Every Mario party game past 7 is complete trash. This includes the handhelds too.

Don't forget with Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros Brawl you do have the option of using the GC controller (I think some other games do too but those are the two main blue chip games that do), and I for one very much appreciate that fact.

Because...?
Because they're not good? They're completely different from the first 7 in the way that you get stars or even with the concept of how you win. Mario party island tour sucks because whoever goes 1st has a huge advantage since its literally a race to the finish. There is no star going to random places making it fair for everyone. It's just whoever gets to the star first wins. So if you go first, advantage you.

Mario Party 8 was the last one developed by Hudson Soft, and during that time they were going through some shit, leading to Konami buying them out. Probably has something to do with it.

Edit: Which reminds me, has anyone played the 3DS Conception game(s)?

Okami
It should be noted that I played Okami on the PS2, and loved it!

If you are up for a replay, the Wii version uses motion control for the brush, so it's pretty cool.
Azure Striker Gunvolt (the dual pack version is physical)
Etrian Odyssey (all of them)
Shantae and the Pirate's curse (again, there is a physical version. pretty hard to find, but it's out there)
Shovel Knight
