  • "There are several demo gamepad only and a few demo consoles completed sales if you search wii u demo. Someone got lucky on both the gamepad and console, $64.88 and $58.88 respectively. The seller from Colorado didn't know what they had."

I just found the ones you were talking about. Awesome deal, but the cord to the gamepad was cut, so it still wouldn't be 100% complete unless you were able to find a cord somewhere else. I still would have bought both of them in a heartbeat if I saw them though.

I'm just pumped to have got mine up and running this morning! I still have a handful of extra kiosk wiimotes and nunchuks that I bought on ebay shortly after I got my original Wii kiosk, and they work perfectly! I wasn't sure if the kiosk wiimotes were gonna work on this unit, since I wasn't using the original kiosk Wii U, but I'm really glad they do!

Now I'm just looking for one of the original keys, but I'm definitely not willing to pay the current ebay asking price.

Most of us with kiosks have the cables for the cut controllers. I would have snapped those up, too.. Gladly would rewire my cut cable to the gamepad.

  • Finally got around to taking pictures of my unit.  Also, recently aquired an official Lynx monitor!
  • Got mine all setup, here are some pics!

  • Well, looks like I've been able to track down a full kiosk unit minus the console. All the wires, wired gamepad AND the wiimote and nunchuck, screen, etc. everything is there and nothing is cut or damaged. I've agreed on a deal with the guy, now it's just getting it to my place. I will never be 100% certain on the deal until it's actually at my place, but this is looking good.
  • Any idea on how the serial number system works? I'm seeing some that only have numbers, while some like mine have numbers followed by b8.

Are you going to try and pick up a console? If not I would be interested in your gamepad once you get it.

    And what about NOA-U-GS

    nintendo of america - Wii U - gamestop ??

Initially, I believed they were based around region that they came from. For example toltecnightmare and I have a serial number difference of only 3#s. If I remeber correctly, he got his from the flint, mi area like I did, so I thought that may have had something to do with it. But that was kinda destroyed when I found out that my friend (who lives 20 minutes away) had 765, and you would think the numbers would be smaller. So If I had to guess, the serial numbers almost corelate with location, probably based on the truck they were put on to be delivered to a particular location. I have no clue about the other stuff though. Perhaps revisions?

Funny enough, the console is the only thing I own right now. Match made in heaven.

The regional theory is interesting. That would make sense. I wonder if anyone else has close numbers from people within their area. I wonder if we can get anymore data on that. I'm also curious about how many of these were made. I'd assume 1 for every Gamestop, Target, and (were these in Best Buy?). Any other locations that had these?

I seem to remember playing pokken at best buy when it came out. Which is what made me buy it. However, i dont remember target having kiosks, or at least ive never seen them. Ive seen the amiibo kiosks at target though.
  • I just saw a perfect one unplugged in the corner of a store. They said they are sending it back to corporate, which I suppose is sadly an option that follows policy and doesn't result in anyone picking it up for personal use.

Either that or the guy just says that but really he wants it for himself. I'd do the same thing hahah.

Heh, good point. This was just the evening entry-level staff and not a manager or owner so there wasn't much opportunity to probe for a deeper explanation.

The kiosk consoles and gamepad were recalled by Nintendo when the kiosks were decommissioned. However before everyone was looking for a kiosk, there were several gamepads and kiosk Wii U consoles that sold.

I have the gamepad that is listed at the ridiculous $500 on ebay- if anyone wants to work something out here, I'm much more reasonable. I was told from the guy I bought it from that it was new and never used, meant to be a replacement part for a damaged unit. However the glass plastic has scratches from storage.
  • Sorry, I've been lazy about this.  I saw that someone updated the list with my name and answered the questions that they knew about.

I will answer the "?" categories now:
    • original security key - N
    • subwoofer - Y
    • wrench - N
    • back sign - N
    • papers - N
    • demo disc - N

I'm not sure about the serial or model number off the top of my head, but I will get them and post them later.

Also, for what it's worth, I've been trying to track the kioks that were local to me.  Out of the 5 stores that are close to me, one is now in my possesion, 3 were destroyed and the other one belongs to a guy I know from another online group.  Unfortunately, I don't have any info on the other 4 kiosks.  I didn't have access to the 3 destroyed kiosks, and the other guy who has the 4 unit refused to answer any info because he is a little paranoid about getting the GS employee into trouble.  Sorry, I know that isn't a lot of help.
  • I was going through my pictures of my trip to the Nintendo World Store and noticed that all of the kiosk consoles and gamepads are black. Would these the only instances of black demo consoles?

I don't know, but all of the pics I've seen of the ones from Gamestop were all white.
  • Yep here's a black Wii U, gamepad, and cord. This kiosk might be exclusive to Nintendo world store.

Here is the massive kiosk at toys r us in Times Square.

  • OMG, if a collector got their hands on the TRU Wii U kiosk, they truly have the holy grail of Wii U items!

Can't be certain they were demo consoles unless we saw the back of them. Wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo had those specifically for the NY Nintendo Store (NYNS). Anyone know if the NYNS had the kiosks before other retailers had them? Would make sense that Nintendo would have used the black consoles to promote the 32GB console bundle, but then cut costs on non-Nintendo store retailers kiosks. Hope others with info will chime in... need piece of Nintendo history..  I personally LOVE the look and size of the NYNS kiosks. Wish I could get my hands on one.

  • I just found this sticker. It's on the underside of the top of the cabinet. Who's your inspector?

  • does anyone have a few of the cut cables from the controllers? im experimenting and need these to work with

The NYNS kiosks are unreal!  Do they have a larger screen?

  • Should we start keeping track of ones that have been parted/destroyed? For example the base of #4664 has been parted and is on ebay right now.

I think that's a great idea, gonna take more work but it's certainly something super useful.  BTW I don't think I thanked you enough for the audio help. I modded mine similar to yours with the same amp, I'll take pics this week....been too busy with my Switch, my Kiosk hasn't gotten any love

No problem, I'm glad you got it working. Personally speaking, my next project for this is to turn it into an arcade unit. I plan on doing that by unmounting the rubber gamepad grip and replacing it with a custom bracket to fit cheap arcade stick (im thinking the mayflash ps2 ps3 universal since its not bad for $40). From there i wanna make an external coin box that mounts to the base on the left side and runs up the side, custom 3d printed of course. The coin mech is going to be custom made by me using extra parts I have lying around. Its going to be simple, cheap, and small. I'll post pictures when I'm done  . Its a shame I dont have time right now, I moved it back home to detroit but am living in flint still, so i dont even have access to it currently to make plans.

What do you think the cord coming from the gamepad plugs into?

The actual wii u demo console. The demo consoles have more ports than a retail one. I think its safe to assume that these consoles are just black in color and nothing else is differentr other than that.

Im looking forward to see what you come up with. The white arm is easy to remove. Undo the security bolts on the side and there are 4 nuts underneath.

I could send you a commerical coin mech for quarters if you like. I have an extra one.
