If it is any consolation I ran it eleven times to get there. And you're one of the best players around these parts, I'm sure you'll be at the top more than once.

If I can't win at a game I've been practicing every day for several weeks, one of my favorite games, forget about it.
I've targeted this game to win since the roster came out so anything else than 1st is a complete and utter failure.
My run I averaged 343.5 per loop. Your run averaged 355 per loop! What am I missing here?! I'm killing the majority of the enemies and maximizing the legal point pressing areas to their fullest,or so I believe. I am really scratching my head on where this point gap is coming from.
Not really the same, but I kind of feel your pain. I played so much Battletoads, Double Dragon, and Adventure Island last year, and thought I would get one of those wins for sure

To be honest it's demoralizing. I'll keep trying but it's going to be difficult to top that score.
321,320 loop one score for me this time. If I ever bothered to figure out where the level 3 bonuses were I could increase by that much, otherwise that is a near perfect run for my standards

All great games that I've completed thanks to playing them in the contests.

Great job hitting the million point mark too! That's awesome! It's going to be interesting to see how many more players can get there by Sunday.
I started playing Double Dragon 2 tonight. Ugh. I do not know how to play this. I can't pull off the cyclone kick consistently. Enemies duck almost everything that I throw at them, including the aforementioned cyclone kick. I think that I prefer how the first Double Dragon plays, but I might just need more practice.
Once you get the timing down, you'll be able to hit the cyclone kick everytime.
Will guts get the extra 35k he needs to regain first? Will the new guy make a surge to the top? Will Bea perform a miracle and topple everyone? Will Brock's memory return so he can finish a third loop unscathed without controller throwing rage? Will table continue to showcase his uncanny abilities? Will Skinny be true to his word and NOT snipe everyone at the last moment? Will Bert post an insane score and wreck us all? Will I meet the predicted score? Will Mega Tank make participation? Will Toxie remember to post a score? Will Team Colorado surpass Team Canada (be it in score, vulgarity and/or banter?) All these and more may likely be told in the upcoming Santa update I'm sure!
I have never been so excited to post a qualifying participation score before!
Suppose I publically groaned too soon.
Trying to at least post participation scores until I can get my hands later on in the season Of games I'm decent at.
Each week I drool at the expertise people display at NES in these contests. This week was no exception.
1 million points in this game is unimaginable.
This was the only time I managed to reach Stage 3. (Damn fire things surprised the crap out of me).
Thanks for all the support everybody.
Beautifully done, Santa!
I knew you could do it!
And come on Guts! I know you can do a 1.1 mil run and flabbergast everyone here!
To be honest,I don't think 1.1 million is possible unless tool assisted or you point rack where the Gradius ships are in stage 5,loop 2 and 3. Yes there is point variance in this game, but to have all of it go your way would be like me scoring 860k in a perfect Mega Man 1 low score run. Could it happen, sure but super unlikely.

I'm struggling to hit participation as well. I'm just terrible at shooters. For Ice Hockey participation was achieved by just finishing a game no matter how badly you did. How about participation for this being "Press start to begin and watch yourself die a few times". I already nailed that goal!

You can do it too, Smick!
I belive in you! You just have to beat stage 1 and make through middle way to stage 2 and you will be able to get it!
I'll keep plugging away this weekend, but I think Swiftfrost is winning this week. I don't see myself surpassing that score,so I'll just say congrats on the win in advance.

Well, leg day is done so I will start giving my likely only try on this for the week.
Hopefully it will be enough for participation.
From tomorrow and on I will be too busy having fun crunching and debugging the hell out of Marble Madness data.
If you ever decide to share the gory details, I'd love to work alongside you. Otherwise, have fun
Shat the bed on stage 5 of loop 3. C'est la vie.
Well the prophecies said I would lose to New Guy (and everyone else)... but it still hurts
Apparently I'm terrible at Life Force.
edit: fuck it, nice ruin ruined by my defective memory. Back to Ogre Battle
nice job guts and swift too.

I didn't update it yesterday because I am still trying to fully understand 6502 ASM.
I am no longer a 19 years old lass who could learn most of the x86 ASM commands in a week.

Oh wait, I can hardly beat it on normal mode ... nevermind
Things are starting to heat up.
