He hates people, why would he have contributed to the creation of more of them?
Hate is too strong a word. Just a general dislike overall. Hey, some people are great. However, as a whole, people are selfish and obnoxious. To a certain extent this is understandable -we have survival instincts. However, we're way beyond that point. Whether it's nature or nurture that is leading humanity down a dark path that is filled with anger, malice, apathy, and will ultimately destory much of the planet -don't know. But yeah, you make a great point. We have way too many people on this planet, why would anyone want more? Oh, and studies show that people without kids are happier!
Do most people actually suck, or do we just assume that most people suck because they have different priorities than us? Logically it makes no sense to assume that most people are bad. Perhaps it would be better to point out general behavioral traits that most people commonly share instead.
I've talked to my shrink about it...something to do with how people with Autism/Asperger's lack empathy. It's a big issue for me because I don't know how to feel/react when something bad happens unless it's to someone I care about. I can't exactly teach/force myself to have empathy. It's just one of those things that I will never have.
I don't have Aspergers and I react to tragedy the same way you do. I don't think there's anything bad about that at all.
I mean, if we're being honest with ourselves, what do we actually know about those people? The only common umbrella they share is being victims of the tragedy itself. That's it. That's not necessarily abnormal. In order for us to care about someone, we have to know something about them first, right? You're fine.
I know how much you guys LOVE when I talk about the bible
But the bible says that people are actually natrually bad, with completely selfish intentions. Society, depending on where you live, can install certain moral codes and depending on how you are raised you can turn out to be a "moral person." But people's intentions are self-serving by nature. It is the world of sin we live in.
OK I'm done. Feel free to throw the rocks at me. Oh wait you can't. I'm behind a computer screen. Rekt!

Well I take it as I'm not normal because I compare it to my mother who actually feels bad for people...there are people out there that feel stuff for strangers...idk how many there are compared to people like me with a mental issue/people like you that just don't feel for someone you don't know...but I have to assume the people who care are the norm.
Yeah, being an aspie isn't much fun at all...especially in my case when not only did I not get a proper mental/emotional health diagnosis (which also includes PTSD from childhood and later workplace abuse) until 2006 (I always knew all my life I was "different" but in those pre-Internet days (born 1980) how was I supposed to know or find out what was going on?), I never even heard of such a thing. As for the stereotype that aspies don't have empathy...if anything I had way too much empathy for my own good. That is, many took unfair advantage of it and made me feel like a sucker and a fool for believing they actually had my best interests at heart
"The youngest person ever to win the lottery in Britain wants to sue the jackpot honchos who made her wealthy because the dough "ruined her life," according to a report...She's sick of shopping, misses hustling for a paycheck and has struggled to find a boyfriend who isn't using her for the dough, she said."There's no one in the same boat as me, no-one who really understands. I feel like I'm a 40-year-old."
Yes, basically she won lots of money, said money ruined her, so she's suing them for more money! Anyone want to bet that she's spent all her winnings and just wants more free money? Anyone? Anyone?
"...same teen allegedly said that after he shot the victim at close range, he stole her cellphone and iPod from her pocket. He allegedly claimed the other teen stole $55 from the victim's purse and forcibly removed her backpack from her body. After they robbed her, the duo allegedly tossed the victim's backpack in a Dumpster in a city park and destroyed her electronics"
and their response: "I am so so so sorry"
Yeah, I'm sure they're sorry they were discovered. Anyway, this kind of stuff happens way too often, and every time it does, I think to myself
Life is interesting because people have a moral choice in all they do. They understand subtle nuance. They know how to elicit emotional reactions from others. They can engage in conversation. Imagine how fun this conversation would be if you created a forum that only dogs and cats were allowed. There would be exactly 1 post - Yours. You might get lucky, though-- a cat could lay on a keyboard and post some gibberish.
Animals and people think differently.
If a dog gets their leg stuck in a trap, their brainstem immediately concludes, "Me need to escape. Me chew leg off nao."
Humans are resourceful and can achieve great things. If they get stuck in a bear trap, they will try and use their ingenuity first to spring the trap. They will call for help. They will go through a spectrum of emotions. They will exhaust all other possibilities before finally being forced to cut off their leg, should it come to that.
This is why human to human relationships are important. You can run off into the forest and be an animal hermit, but don't expect relationships to go much beyond 'Human warm. He feeds me. I like him.' Don't expect the conversations to be cerebral, either.
When humans own animals, they project their own meaning onto the relationship and assume the animal feels the same way. While animals can have emotional connections to humans, it's not a perfect two-way street.

pets >> kids
Well kids are about 10,000 times more complex than pets, which can manifest in horrible ways. But saying Pets > kids is... well, nonsensical. It's like the ultimate example of apples and oranges
Basically, what my conservative friend said, much more eloquently (I've been drinking)
I'm in the same camp as the pro-pet group. I love my cat so much, and the feeling is mutual.
I once heard a joke (when I was touring Alaska), the bus driver asked, "What's the difference between a dog and your wife?" The answer was, "If you lock a dog in the trunk of the car and then let it out, it'll be happy to see you, if you do the same to the wife, she will be pissed at you." Bad joke, I know, but I think it also demonstrates some of the differences between animals and humans.
I work with children every day, and even at ages of three or four, some of the children I work with are starting to lie, show signs of believing they are better than some of their peers, just because Daddy has a better car than their classmates, etc. Likewise, at the end of last year I was really hurt by one person I thought I could truly trust. People can just be entitled asses, and sometimes they need to be called out on their poor behavior.
On the other hand, animals just act instinctively. The cat I raised since he was a kitten, he probably sees me as his mother, which explains his extreme affection. Back in the States I had dogs as well, such loyal animals that would never purposely hurt you.
With people, yes, there are truly good people out there, and I am one of those that believes in quality over quantity (a few true friends vs tons of mediocre friends). I have a few really good friends, who I can count on for anything, but such a friendship is rare and to be treasured. Just from averages, animals have a much better track record than humans, imo.
I see alot of mentions of people in general of being selfish, fake, backstabbing etc. i dont even think thats really a problem. I hate people because in general they are all helpless idiots. My view has been heavily shaped by working in retail, specifically auto parts, where everyone expects you to be psychic and know what they drive, whats wrong with the car, and how to fix it. All while having zero information to give about the car or problem. People expect others to solve their problems for them and get mad when no one does. Thats why i hate people, and yes i do mean hate.

Seems like a lot of this thread's emphasis is on things that happen within North America.
..Nah I shouldn't even bother.
Except me I'm a cool dude.
Cats are way better.
If I was a cat I could sit in front of my Fireplace all day and do nothing
Should I bother bringing up stuff that happens overseas or no?
Seems like a lot of this thread's emphasis is on things that happen within North America.
..Nah I shouldn't even bother.
Yes you should. Of course since I live in North America, much of the news I get that's not of global impact is fairly localized.

You watch that sick, twisted garbage?
No wonder you have the perspective you do, they purposely show all the bad things that happen because it gets people to watch.
There is lots of good things people do too man such as sacrificing their lives to save others, giving money to poor etc.
I'm not prejudice I hate everyone and everything equally. Except kittens, nobody should hate kittens.
Even Joel???
