Toaster NES acting funny.....

I just fired up my NES to play some Mario Bros for the contest, and it's acting strange.

I put in the game and pushed the power button, and the screen is peach colored and I can hear a loud buzzing sound coming from the speakers. I tried a different game, and got it to fire up after a few tries, but the loud buzzing sound plays over the game music. I still can't get Mario Bros to work.

Has anyone seen this before? It's never been Peach colored on the screen when the NES didn't work before... (The screen is still peach colored when no game is inserted)

Any help on this one?

  • I remember hearing something like this quite a while back. If I'm not mistaken something was wrong with the power adapter. Maybe someone else will chime in with better info.
  • are you using a Nintendo brand AC adapter?
  • Are you using an actual NES power supply, or a knock-off? Weird buzzing sounds usually would mean a short, or a power supply thats not quite kosher. If your using a 3rd party pack, thats prob the case.

Now I've got to track down an official AC Adapter... I must have sold my personal one with a system. Curses! The game store in my town charges $15 for them!!!
