Another interesting Poster discovery while going thru my collection...

So I'm going through my CIB collection game by game, grading / pricing as I go and I've been looking at all of the posters.  You may remember the Godzilla 2 thread I made a week ago:

http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=21843&highlight_key=y&keyword1=godzilla 2

Well just now I found this interesting one in my Shatterhand box... this picture has two interesting features:

image

1.  Notice the box art for Shatterhand is a cartoon figure, while the real box art is a realistic human with a "terminator" fist that is revealed as he punches the front of the box.

2.  More fascinating is the box art and description for the game "Squashed" which is supposed to be some sort of fast food fight.  The box art shows a menacing Broccoli and Carrot with two people cowering in fear.  Ironically enough, this title was "Squashed" and never released, but maybe you prototype guys can find it out there image

Anyways just thought someone else might find it interesting, apparently I'm stumbling across some neat stuff lately.

Hi, we did that five years ago:

It's a pretty decent game, you should try it if you get a chance. The only reason it didn't come out (according to their PR guy from that time) is because of Nintendo's five games a year rule.

EDIT: Incidentally, that's the best looking source I've ever seen of the box art...if anyone has this poster and a scanner, I'd appreciate scanning just the box portion at a really really high resolution for me.

DreamTR owned and sold Squashed.  It's out there if you look hard enough.  Good eye regardless.

  • Taito probably got the idea for Panic Restaurant from this.
  • I still have Squashed...there's 3 prototypes out there that I know of, one sold at CGE auction, one sold to a collector in IL (that extra I had) and one I own...
  • Didn't a mutual friend of ours have and lose one? Was it one of those three?
  • I don't think anyone lost one...It was me, chris, tsr, but tsr left one at Gamepro, so there's actually 4...
  • yeah, as everyone else has already said, this game's out already. nice find though.
