NES repair gone wrong?

I was having some blink issues with my NES so I took out the pin connector, lifted all of the top pins and then cleaned it with alcohol. Now when I put in a clean NES cart all I get is a solid pink screen.

WTF?

    Hmm... very strange now it seems to work just fine. I went over the motherboard with a toothbrush and picked up a few hairs, adjusted the inside cables and such.

    If you played with the pins - does the game work in the "up" position now more readily than down?

    Is it normal for the NES to be really picky how a cart is placed in the machine?

    ^ I think it's very normal for the machine to be picky. You sometimes have to wiggle it back and forth and hit reset once you get the game going.
