NFR and Distribution Cart Discussion

I was wondering if there was a general discussion thread regarding demo and Not For Resale carts, or an extensive and up to date list.

I've always had a fascination with owning things that I'm not necessarily supposed to own, and somehow I stumbled across NFR carts a while ago and haven't looked back. Personally I've been building a small but humble collection of carts, mainly collecting DS games but I've dabbled in GBA, 3DS, Wii and Gamecube too. I have some DS Download Stations, Pokemon Distribution carts, Nintendogs Relay, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Yoshi's Wooly World, and some others here and there. My goal now is to pick up some demo carts that have sentimental value to me, such as games that I played in stores for long periods of time.

  • Have you seen Nintendemos.com?
  • Yes I have! Really extensive site, I even e-mailed him some contents of Download Stations that he didn't seem to have listed, but it looks like the site hasn't been updated in over a year.
  • I feel like JaxsBox would be a good go-to. He's made lots of discussion threads on the topic.

That is definitely something to aspire to. I have no clue where some people even have the connections to find some of the obsure stuff in there.

That's also why I'm looking to see if there's an up to date list on everything for the GBA/DS/3DS and such. Especially now with the Switch coming out, it'll be interesting to see how that changes things.

  • PM sent! Welcome to the wonderful world of NFRs!

Thanks! Is it the most recently released 3DS demo cart?

Also, does anyone know what the last released Pokemon distribution cart is? As a Pokemon fan it's way more convenient that they moved away from them for events, but as a collector it's a shame that there are no more.

  • Nice the Pokemon Mystery egg is one of the last NA NFR carts I need. That and the Key.
  • Thanks, really happy to have it. Distribution carts of any kind (Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs) are really fun to have, but also the most expensive. I actually found an old promo page for the Secret Key event from years back, I'll scan it and attach it if anyone's interested (though it is in French).

Since I made this thread I've actually since purchased The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and 3 more DS Download Stations (I now officially have 9 of 18).
