Disabling the NES Lock-Out Chip

I was wondering if disabling the NES lock-out chip would be a good idea. I repaired the 72 pin on one of my extra NES consoles but I still get the dreaded blink. Does disabling the lock-out chip fix this and are there any issues that would arise after doing this?

I have also heard it makes your NES region free.

  • Sounds like your games need cleaned too.
  • Nah my games were cleaned, I just swapped out 72 pins from an extra ugly NES I had. Thing works great now!
