In all honesty, my first friend I ever made from when I was 3-4 years old and we are still friends now is the only friend I could ever trust with absolutely anything....Other than that, nope.

Heh - we let my wife's cousin stay for free in a house and he ripped us off for a bunch of stuff we had stored in the place.

By my experience, once someone steals, they eventually are able to justify to themselves that they can steal from anyone, friend or family. There are all sorts out there, but I think less of a thief than I do a murderer, probably because there's seven billion of us so we could use a little paring down population-wise.
I don't have a lot of friends, especially not where I am living now; however, I will always take quality over quantity, any day. The friends I have would give the shirt of their backs for me, and vice versa, so this sort of crap would never happen.
People that take advantage of others an their kindness suck. That is why I prefer cats to people.

That is horrible. Life is precious and I am sorry to hear you say that. I can't imagine living it. The closest I've seen to this was when suicide tore up a family that I was close with,
I'm sure hearing something like this he would take it back. Perhaps if he has no experience with murder it is easier for him to justify. We all harbor feelings against others at times. Thank you for the sentiment. I don't normally like bringing it up just because I don't like burdening people with things like this, but I thought some perspective would help. I wasn't offended or anything like that (I don't think it came off as that way), but saying that you think less of someone who steals tangible items over someone who steals the future and life of another person, there seems to be a lack of understanding on the ripple effects on the families.
