Deceleration for me though, aka, gettin rid of some shit.

I was trying to make poetry out of the title, you like?

Otherwise it could be "Your game stack, gaining more or getting rid of some shit?"

But funny looking back at the title, I mis-spelt deceleration. 'Decceleration' = hybrid for deceleration and declaration = have I created a new word? lol

I think deceleration is the removal of celery.

  • I'm slowing down for sure, but I don't see myself anywhere near stopping. I'm way past the collecting in bulk phase, so now I'm either waiting on good deals for things I want or waiting for them to be available for sale at all!
  • I go through waves. I've slowed down a bit since I had kids but I expect it to pick up again once I get my new house fully built. It will never be like it was when I first started collecting though, what's when you're really addicted.

"Oh yeah, I'm totally trying to quit."

haha, I can quit anytime I want! I just don't want to.
  • I have been collecting significantly less as time goes on. Right now I barely buy anything except for new Switch or PS4 games. Part of it has to do with just being tired with searching, part of it from having less leisure money, part of it from just having less time to actually enjoy the games I own... it's a lot of factors really. I still love the hobby, still love gaming, that will never change, but I'd say I peaked in 2015 and have been buying less and less over time and even selling a lot of stuff.
  • SNES - big deceleration, mostly because I never come across the titles I still need, and most of them are pretty pricey.  I've only acquired a handful of titles this year, mostly when I have $50 or so to blow and decide to knock one of them out

NES - some deceleration, I've acquired everything available locally, and now pretty much just pick up what I need for the contests here and there

DS/3DS - steady, I generally buy games to play as I beat previous ones

Disc systems - some acceleration, partially because this is what I always find in the wild
  • Im fairly new to collecting but i go though phases. I'll buy alot one month and next month maybe nothing. It is also difficult when you collect comics, even more expensive than video games for the most part, and pop vinyls too.
  • Since I've been running out of room and needing money to go into other things... slllloooowwww.
  • For me personally, my collection rates have been the same for the last 3 or so years. I try to get one every other week. Personally, I've been doing more buying and selling than anything so that way I can afford to get more expensive games without spending personal money. For me its more or less self control because I'm limited on funds because the same budget I have for video games includes new games coming out on switch because nintendo is always taking my money. So I guess at the end of the day, it just depends on what is coming out during the year. It is also completly dependant on time.

But if I had to say something, my collection would be acceletating in terms of certain types. I seem to be going for retail demo cartridges and retail advertisement stuff like posters and displays. Other than that, everything else has remained the same or has decreased.
  • It's pool season. Game collecting has been de-sell-erating
  • I've probably had a steady 3-4 usps packages per week for the last 3 years or so. Lately, I have been mostly trading off my loose carts for other stuff so I would say I am kind of running in place atm.
  • A crawl, been that way for a couple years now.
  • Ehh, kind of a bit of both, to be fair.

I've found myself having much more money to spend in the past six months, but I'm instead spending money on better things than just crap.

Good games are more expensive than shovelware generally speaking, so additions are a bit less frequent.
  • Slow now. I need only 70 n64 games and all the nes games I need now are ridiculously expensive. I have everything else I want outside of the games. All Nintendo powers collector cards etc. So it's slow.

Or maybe it's de-cell-erecting? Umm..what were were we talking about again?

  • I'm retired. I stopped picking up comics too, ran out of space and realized I have way more games and comics than I'll ever have time to play or read. Gave up booze as well, been saving a bundle which has helped me finance taking more trips with my girlfriend.
  • Decelerating....first I bought everything I wanted to play then everything that is cheap (> $20). Now paying hard earned funds for shelf decor is beginning to be a chore especially considering I'll be in the market for a new house in the next 3-6 months.
  • Decelerating. Playing through my backlog, currently.

Selling off titles I don't care about as well.
  • Practically a screeching hault since I have pretty much everything I want.
  • No change in pace here. I still buy a couple Genesis or Xbox games a week. I don't think I ever want to stop, honestly.
  • Slowed my buying as I am building my dream house. Just dot have the time for work, current house, new house, and other hobbies...and its summer
