Low key/chillin NES soundtracks

I'm looking for some opinions / links to your favorite low key/relaxed/chill NES sound tracks . Need some reference material. It's hard for me to disconnect from high energy / frantic I associate with the NES. Show me what ya got.

  • Ending music to SMB3 or music from stage 1-1.
  • Tetris music 3

    Tetris 2 music C

    Dr Mario Chill

  • Zelda a link to the past End credits is one of my old time favorites, I had this track recorded on a cassette tape back in the early 90s and used to listen to it all the time.

    Here is a great cover.

I also like Super Castlevania 4's music, specially the cave stage, very relaxing

If we are going to discuss SNES... oh my! Way too many to choose from. I’ll start with these:

    https://youtu.be/LDvKwSVuUGA

    https://youtu.be/Hx0TOROqz8E

  • Sorry I did not read the post correctly, lol
  • It's all good. I'd prefer to keep it in the NES realm, for the sake of instrumentation . But SNES is cool too.
  • Mother was released for Famicom and technically unreleased for NES, but the English version was later released for Virtual Console as "Earthbound Beginnings."

Can't find a link for track 1 Prologue, but it's the first track anyway, so I'll link the full album:

Great suggestion, chilling to this one now.

i know its not a childhood song but heres a good hombrew chill song.

alot of the music from Mr Gimmik is smooth imo

    mega man 2 ending theme

one more but im not sure if this is considiered chill. its still a good song.

smooth music for the nes is kinda rare since its sound is sharp not soft like snes. anyways i think the first one would best match what you're looking for.

  • I liked the "fixed" StarTropics ending music (starts at 3:41):
  • Kraids Hideout?

Never cared for Zelda nor have I played LttP or want to, but that is just gorgeous.  Much better than the original.

  • May I suggest "Chill" from Dr. Mario!
  • Deja Vu's music to me has a low-key vibe to it:

Crisis Force's ending theme to me is very calming:

    Nobody reads my posts.

  • Chill from Dr Mario is a good one nobody's mentioned yet
  • Oh, almost forgot. Pipe Dream has a groovy default track.

Gets more frantic if the flooz is about to catch up, though.

  • No one mentioned the track "Chill" from Dr. Mario. You may want to give that one a shot.

    Blaster Master - Area 5:

    Monster Party - Stage 3:

Super Mario Bros. 3 - Ice World Overworld Theme:

this'll make sense in November or next March.
  • Adventures of Tom Sawyer

    This remake is fantastic

  • In addition to all of the above, check out Chill from Dr. Mario

  • Any Platoon song

  • Why has no one mentioned Pipe Dream yet?

These are some noteworthy timestamps from that link:

    0:00

    3:22

4:27 (super frantic, though. Not really “chill” )

    5:07

    11:43 (kinda surf rock)

13:56 (the very definition of “quirky” )

    23:12 - very good

    26:54 - absolutely great

28:31 (kinda sounds like more surf rock)

There are more, but I ran out of time...
  • I remember Mahjong Taikai (an obscure Famicom Mahjong game by Koei) having some pretty chill tracks. I don't think there are Youtube videos of it but I can try to record the tracks of the NSF and upload 'em as soon as I get to my computer.
  • Minesweeper (homebrew by neodolphino, programmed by vec, music by zi) had some great chill tunes.
  • Here's a few.

Nothing takes me back to 1989 quite as well as that Ultima tune.
