Snes Kiosk Replacement parts?
Hey NA,
I have a SNES kiosk on the way to me! I am pretty psyched, but still hoping it arrives in one piece. It is just the tabletop version, and the variant that has the diddy kong sticker on the plexiglass.
It has the original controller arms, and overall is in good shape with the original working system and working volume. Definitely not perfect though, and is missing the monitor. Needs a really good cleaning and some TLC. I have some ideas for the monitor substitution, but it comes with an LCD for now. Yuck.
But i was wondering if anyone knew what i could do for a plexiglass replacement? It has some good scratches on it. I was thinking maybe they could be sanded and buffed out, but i am new to kiosks and not sure what kind of restoration can be done for it.
Is it possible to have another one made from somewhere? Or am i stuck trying to finding a broken unit to harvest parts from?
Thanks a bunch, can't wait to get it and get my shiny NA badge Will post pics in 3 days when it gets here.

You will be best off trying to buff and sand it. Finding somewhere to have a new one made would be a pain.
That is what i figured. I just hope i don't ruin the plexiglass by sanding it. I am afraid it won't buff back to clear/shiny again after i sand it.
Is it just acrylic?

You would not really "sand it" per say. You are best off using a liqud buffing/polishing compound that is designed for slofter/clear plastics.
A couple years ago a member here had a bunch made- I bought one when I had a kiosk missing it. Last I heard they had sold out though.
Thanks for that info! I had no idea. I wonder what the actual material of the dome is? Acrylic? Polycarbonate? Plexiglass? Once i know i can try and find a polish and buff system that may work.
Pretty sure lojack44 is the dude who had the plexiglass replacement pieces.
Is this the one on eBay that sold recently. I thought that guy wasn't willing to ship.

Yup. I convinced him to ship it. I just hope it gets here in one piece. I had fedex package it and everything because he was too afraid to ship. Thanks ill message lojack and see. Maybe he has ideas for me.
