Game box art used in other places
The TMNT 1 cover thread (and the fact that the TMNT nes box art was originally a comic book cover) got me thinking... what other uses have you seen for NES (or other platfrom) box art? What box art can you think of that came from somewhere else?
I'll start with one:

was originall a book called the Vanishing City (and the art makes a lot more sense in that context doesn't it? the little swirls and sparkles are supposed to suggest it is vanishing)

Metal Gear NES was from a scene in The Terminator. Does that count!?
That is a cover swipe. Different.
I had to.......hahahahahahaha!!! Probably the most obvious one in the entire library.
Good one
why do I get the feeling I'll be playing this game by myself? lol Maybe this thread wasn't so well thought out.
I really tried man, I did, I swear.....
Okay I will meet you half way on this one.....The cover of Friday the 13th is taken from a scene from Friday the 13th Part VII....This particular scene where the "bitch" of the movie opens the door and Jason puts an axe through her head.
I believe one of the nes Castlevanias did this, but I don't remember which, or where the art was originally used
It was Castlevania II....Go find it and then take credit for it....I will remove my post.
Love ya bud.
Snake Plissken from Escape From New York
That's definitely Michael Biehn
What are you talking about man that is so Snake Plissken (Kyle Reese) from John Carpenter's (Jim Cameron's) Escape from New York (The Terminator).

In that sense, Contra rips off specific movie poster poses from Predator, Alien, and one of the Rambo films.
That's definitely Michael Biehn

Nice catch. I'm not sure if I've ever seen the movie. Might have to give it a try.
These are compressed T-shirts.

...And then throws her clear over a nice, shiny, late 80's TV set! Always one of my favorite NES game covers, if not for the juxtaposition of color choice alone!

The Mindscape version is not mirrored and matches the poster. The Tengen version is but what's interesting is it looks like they corrected the NY on Short Rounds hat. Otherwise it would be backwards.
